I mounted the foam gasket on top of (outside of) the metal mounting plate. That puts foam between the snorkel and the body instead of the metal bracket against the body. it protects the wing and has a better seal.

It really is, but you should follow the installation instructions so that it fits perfectly 😉

This style definitely looks more sleek on the Disco, my D4 already had a genuine safari snorkel fitted when I bought it, I thought about changing to the Mantec, but I figured it would be a big job to make is as watertight as the safari unit.. but great, informative video as always 👍🏻👍🏻

Good video thanks. Anyone thinking of doing this please take care with the fitting - I payed professionals to have my Terrafirma Mantec fitted because my level of DIY competence is near zero - turns out the professionals I used didn’t have much better luck either, as now I have a very slight door to mantec interference issue, but worse still they managed to crack my windscreen during installation….. that was expensive, for them.

Hey, that doesn't sound good with your windscreen 🤦‍♂️ But it's really not difficult, but as I mentioned in the video, you should definitely follow the really good instructions! 😉 This means that all the clearances on the A-pillar will fit and you won't have any problems opening the door.

Awesome video thank you so much! Im learning a ton from your channel! You mention that this system is not fully sealed system - which one is? Im interested in getting the most sealed

Thank you, I really appreciate that! For an almost 100% sealed system, I would recommend the Safari snorkel or a snorkel with a direct connection to the air filter housing. Best, Peter

No not really! Also the wind noise is not really noticable.

I think this design looks better on the disco than the safari style. Do they do a snorkel version of this design? This is really just a raised intake, which is fine for almost every disco owner's use, but it doesn't seem watertight like the safari design.

No, I don't know that they offer anything additional here to seal the system. If you are looking for a closed system, then you should go for the Safari or Bravo snorkel. 😉

Someone please explain to me what is the actual function of the snorkel on a SUV?

So that you can drive through deeper water, at least for a short time. In most cases, however, it serves as a raised air intake so that not so much dust gets into the air filter. The Mantec is more of a raised air intake than a snorkel like the Safari. This can be sealed almost 100%. Best regards, Peter

Eine 5mm Gewindeniete hätte den passenden Durchmesser gehabt. Dann hättest du nicht aufbohren müssen.

I think snorkle has some interference with door. Mantec snorkle not fits 100% clearly.

Hey, in my case the snorkel really fits well and there is no problem with the door. But you should do everything as mentioned in the description, otherwise there could probably be problems.

Kurzer Tip. Das Cover kann man viel besser raus machen, wenn man die Radhausschale an der Innenseite auf schraubt - sodass man gerade mit der Hand rein kommt. So erreicht man die unteren Klipps und kann dann ganz easy ohne Gewalt das Cover raus bekommen. Bei KZfaq reisst jeder das Teil mit Gewalt raus. Oft gehen die Klipps dabei kaputt und das Teil ist Schrot. Es kostet bei LR über 120 Euro neu 😊

Danke dir! Ich bin nur leider hin und wieder auch von der Sorte, wenns nicht muss ist... 😄 Aber ich muss auch gestehen, dieses Cover hat schon extra gut gehalten, auch mit Unterstützung des Hebelwerkzeugs! Am alten Discovery 4 gingen diese weit aus leichter zu demontieren...

Nein, also im Gegensatz zum Safari oder Bravo Schnorchel ist er sicher nicht dicht. Er ist eher eine erhöhte Luftansaugung mEn. Gruß, Peter
