His daughters (Hailie 12 at the time, his adopted niece Alaina a few years older, and his youngest adopted daughter who Kim had with another man, also adopted his brother) found him on the bathroom floor. Doctor said he would have died if he made it to the hospital two hours later. He had to relearn everything and then entered the next sober phase of his life (technical skills skyrocketed and social impact continued). His daughters are doing great by all accounts. Hailie has a podcast (one of my favorite moments is her childhood friend talking about going on the tour bus once saying “you know because my parents knew I was in great hands”… so different than the public saw). They all seem super normal and down to earth in a crazy way.
