Well, AnnenMayKantereit blew up a while ago already in Germany/Europe with their songs "Barfuß am Klavier" and "Pocahontas", which lead to them being the biggest German indie band in a while. Giant Rooks also blew up because of their incredible musicality with their songs "Wild Stare" and later "Watershed“, and now they‘re touring with Milky Chance, a duo you probably know because of their hit "Stolen Dance"… so long story short, it’s going pretty well for both bands ☺️

@@bluezzz604 The inherent contradiction between your closing statement and the fact that it was a statement at all is, frankly, laughable, just like, I’m sure, many other aspects of your life are. My advice - leave the basement every once in a while, take a break from being the community laughing stock, and maybe your parents won’t change the subject when your name comes up (I say “parents” assuming you still have a father, which may be a deductive mistake). Everyone here understands your insecurity and the blatant unintentional adherence to the DK effect, and what they mean. I apologize if anything I’ve said is significantly beyond your reading level (it probably is, based on what I’ve witnessed here), but where I’m from I am consistently surrounded by people substantially more intelligent than you, so my “idiot-speak”, for lack of a better term, is rather out of practice. I do hope this will suffice. I tried to avoid being infantilizing while also making my way through your 6-inch thick skull. p.s, Ignorant, ostentatious pessimism doesn’t make you seem intelligent, it makes you look stupid, and like an ass. I recommend you change your approach if you want any respect from anyone of any superior status to yourself (literally anyone).

The original song of Toms's Diner was written and recorded by Susanne Vegas. The song is just about the same as the original. Except for the lead singers are from 2 different German bands. The combination of the two different voices is very cool. The lead singer for the one band with 3 names has this extremely rich, deep , and raspy voice which is why the song is so popular. It was recorded in 3019 and has gained over 70 million views. The band a mix of both bands in 2 different rooms really compliment the voices. Hannan May is the guy with the deep voice and his band named after the 3 guys who started the band usually sing in just German and has cut several CD's. Tgd other band GIANT ROOK, who's lead singer Fredrick sings in both languages and had tour in the US to open for another band. This is one sweet collaboration and I would not classify it as rock, even though both bands sing Rock, usually original music. This guy's play multiple instruments, and you can find a lit of music for both bands on KZfaq

Fredrick from Giant Rook plays guitar, keyboards and drums, he is the other voice. Sweeter. Like I said he sing in German and English and it looked like ghere were 5 in the band. The other band has quite a larger band on stage including brass section. The singer with the deep voice is Hannon May. He has that rich Gravelly bluesy voice which you can hear in his songs. He can sing very high if he wants to. He said he had a hard time when singing this song because he had to sing in the other bands singer Frederick's key. So that may attribute to a little more of the straining in his throat saying that in his key. But I think he loved what he did with it and put his ball into that song as you can tell. He play guitar, keyboard and piano. Thd original song is from Suzanne Vega and the music and words are the same except they've added a lot more flavor to the music. They enhance and still stay true to the song. There is a video of Hannon May singing with another guy Roxanne not in the studio and some building that has Rubble around it. But some of the band is there definitely the three leads and the guy with the trumpet somebody hitting a small drum set, definitely worth checking it out. I think if this guy can learn to sing Everything in English I think he could be the next vague recording star. I've listened to his songs in German even though I don't know what he's saying it sounds good.. they showed at one of the concerts that Frederick from giant rock showed up run them out on stage so that they could sing Tom Steiner together. Of course the whole introduction I was in German. I hope you enjoy listening to the song because it's kind of addicting to listen to the blend of the voices and music you know they must have practice in time everything to the second to get that song that perfect in a live recording.

But they were already huge in Germany they basically sing German songs cuz they are Germans but sometimes they do some English covers and they also have some original English singles but the truth is that their German songs are pretty as much as the English ones they have 3 albums in German. The other band Giant Rooks only sings in English they already have an album. By the way, the song had had 28 million views on KZfaq before it became a trend. And that kid is 30 by the way😂

See… I didn’t even know that they redid a cover of this. This was something that was popular when I 1st started high school back in 90-1’. I think that it was on the top 100 I think. The thing about the song… or the version that most people commonly know is it’s the remix that some DJ can up. Originally it was just the singer singing the song & telling the tell, but the DJ didn’t like the song & put a beat to it. That’s what made it popular. The record company was originally was going to sue him for it, but since the singer liked it… they let it go. Here’s a vid of it on YT kzfaq.info/get/bejne/oJqap6x1xsvFh30.html

You HAVE TO listen to that album by Suzanne Vega. The original is a great song. The album most popular song is LUKA. A story about a boy who is abused by his parents and how he struggles with his life. I'm not sure about the genesis of the song, but I read that it is based on a real story. She, Suzanne , was a neighbor to the boy and his real name is LUKA. I say "is" because I hope he is alive and well. Tom's Dinner is another story. Listen to the original guys.

You're not stupid, just too young to remember the original song. I'm old enough to remember hearing Suzanne Vega sing it in the late 80s, and I don't even know if she was the first.

The original was a quiet song about a guy going about his day - a day like the hundred days before and what he might expect for the next hundred more. The a cappella was a bit dry but the song demands subtlety. DNA put a trip hop mood on their remix. Not bad but it would have been much better without all the bass...but that was the style back then. Not too crazy about this interpretation. It takes a quiet story and turns it into a performance. The look and sound makes me think of those obnoxious iPod commercials. And TikTok continues its grand tradition of hosting annoying sounds on infinite repeat.

You know that the original Tom's diner was the blueprint for the MP3 algorithm so there would literally be no modern digital compression without this track!

They band "Annenmaykantereit" was famous in Germany before that Tiktok-thing. In Germany they play sold-out concerts in front of 25,000 people. That is not "nothing".

I realize a lot of your viewers are not old enough to recognize that low vocal style with a sort of smoky growling affect. It is based on the vocals from a song from the very first Chicago album when they were known as “Chicago transit Authority“. If you look it up it’s a great sound and style. It’s also a little bit similar to the singing style of David Clayton Thomas who was a Canadian vocalist that was the lead singer for the group called “ blood sweat and tears“. There you have it, that should solve the little mystery about this guys singing style and what inspired him. Thank you, thank you very much.
