I love the idea of an area boss being a stage hazard in regular stages. Not only does it build up to an upcoming boss fight, but it also gives creativity as to how the bosses will interact with the player and stage themselves. SEGA may have the funds but they lack the patience and creativity modders have.

They have the creativity, but the patience is where the problem is. Forces was rushed, and I think it would’ve been a lot better if there was no planned release date so that they had all the time in the world to work on it. That’s probably why the new 2022 sonic game was only just recently announced after years of silence about development, so that they could work on it for longer without being rushed by deadlines and impatient fans and all that. I say that SEGA should take more time into their development instead of trying to get the game ready as soon as possible.

There are so many pathways in sunset hights! And that inclusion of having Shadow was great, makes up for not having a boss which I hope will become some future mod for Forces.

I really like how Arsenal Pyramid is expanded at its start unlike how other stage mods just add a few extra platforms and enemies in the middle of the stage

I love how the levels are combined together because they’re too short on their own. Also I think Sonic’s control is a lot better and less stiff than before.

Forces has a special place in my heart because it's the last gift my dad ever gave me, I wish they'd do something to fix it. Also I think it has a nice upbeat soundtrack

Well we were able to get a fully custom Chaos 0 Boss fight in this game, so it’s only a matter of time before we get a Shadow one.

Most Sonic Forces mods that try to make alternate routes end up falling flat cause they just add random floating platforms above the stage(which you see a little of in this Sunset Heights), but Arsenal Pyramid is done incredibly well here. The use of models in the background as part of the stage is brilliant. I especially love the part where you hear grind on the huge pipe.

I agree with the idea of having longer stages. But I wish they would’ve found a way to utilize Sonic’s drift instead of removing it as well as his midair tricks.

good god these are actually super impressive, leagues above the honestly really bad "forces fixed" level mods that just turn them into really poorly-made mario maker levels, this adds entirely new sections and everything and it's clear a ton of thought and effort went into these.

I actually think Forces is a good game, and at least tried to have a story as robust as the adventure era. Does it get everything right? No, but it’s not a travesty of gaming or anything. That said, I still think this looks really cool.

@ghostoftime1 yeah I would say Tails’ Characterization in this game is definitely one of its more negative aspects. I don’t know much about the writing team but my best guess is that there’s been enough turnover since the adventure era games that they didn’t account for his character arc during that time period, which is admittedly not the best excuse, just my best guess as to why the story is the way it is.

@ghostoftime1 alternatively since we’re forced to accept this characterization, I think maybe they intended it to be his supposed psychological damage from seeing Sonic die, but that happened in SA2 and had the exact opposite effect, so maybe we’re supposed to think the six months that followed Sonic’s apparent death during which tails has been powerless to stop egg man have shaken Tails’ confidence in his own capabilities, but idk it’s probably just bad continuity.

@@yesuhh6855 I haven’t played ultimate because I own a copy of colors Wii and a Wii U. None of the added features seemed like a good enough reason to buy it. I will say half the videos put out since its release have made it seem like a sound decision, but I don’t feel like I can truly get a read on it without playing it myself.

Its literally just adding an extension to the levels, a few more alternate paths and obstacles and in general just a bit more flair to the levels And its such an improvement, if the levels were fun like this, the story would have been the onlt problem

I do feel like the level themes are a bit bland, but for the assets given to them, this is a great improvement from before, Bravo!

There are a few stages that have good aesthetics and themes, like sunset heights for example, but sadly most of the levels are really boring. It's a shame that SEGA didn't give the team more people to work on it and didn't give them more time to finish this game.

But now there are more different straight lines to follow and they last longer than 60 seconds. Which makes a huge difference.

You know going down into the comment and seeing all the assholes like SEGA take notes or Sonic Team do better without realizing the shit they go through to TRY and make the games is outstanding Colors Ultimate:Was completely on Blind Squirrel and I'm pretty sure they had control over the release date too so SEGA shouldn't be getting shit for that Forces:Spent most of the years making the hedgehog engine and had to rush out a game on the last year, we are lucky it came out in this quality. Also had rookie designers who hadn't even worked on a sonic game before 06:Stuck in a contract with Microsoft and HAD to get a game out by the years end Yes SEGA can fuck up but that doesnt mean they aren't trying. Anytime I see "Wow fans are better than Sonic Team" it fucking infuriates me because nobody really knows what it's like until they're put in that position
