one of the greatest vocal groups of all time. they blended and harmonized so well. They made a special effort to enunciate each word clearly, which served them well to a World wide audience. But yet they had more soul than a thousand pairs of shoes [bad musician's joke]. They sounded like an entire 30 person choir at times.

I still have that cassette of their Greatest Hits with that song on it. I loved that group. They did so well together. I was listening to it in the 90's too and even last year. And now with you guys. 😉 Thanks you guys. Good choice! 🙏

This is one of my favorite Fifth Dimension songs. My other favorite is one called "California Soul." Of course you may have already done "Aquarius/Let the Sun Shine In," which was the #1 song of 1969. Their "Up, Up and Away" was their debut hit (1967) and was excellent, too. When I hear this song, it just sounds like music to be outside on a warm, windy day enjoying life and taking in all the beauty all around us. Just such a great vibe.

Her husband was standing on her left shoulder Billy Davis Jr, her name is Marilyn McCoo. They went on from the 5th Demension to have their own career called Marilyn McCoo and Billy Davis jr

Back in the day, there was a segment, in the black community, felt that 5th Dimension wasn't black enough, and their music was catering to the white audience. When they were about to perform at The Harlem Cultural Festival in 1969, the same time Woodstock was having its festival, Marilyn McCoo, one of the lead singers of 5th Dimension, and the wife of Billy Davis Jr., had voice her concern about how they were going to be received. But to their surprise, 5th Dimension was received very well. In fact, they had a standing ovation. That standing ovation gave 5th Dimension an indication that the rest of the black community does love them, and they were appreciated.

I love Fifth Dimension and they do a great cover here, but I think this song brings out the best in Laura Nyro's voice (she wrote it.) Age of Aquarius/Let the Sunshine In is a must by Fifth Dimension. Laura Nyro is worth her own deep dive.
