Cape Girardeau Missouri is like a diamond in the rough when you consider the surrounding region. The rural areas surrounding Cape Girardeau county are full of poverty, but Cape Girardeau can hold its own. In this video, I show you my drive through Cape Girardeau, and tell you all about the city along the way.

Chris, while you did drive through Cape Girardeau, your route missed most of the notable sites in the city. I grew up in Cape but now live in Kansas City. Cape was a great place to grow up in and there are lots of things to see, just not on the particularly odd route that you followed which led you through relatively uninteresting scenery.

I lived in Cape Girardeau for almost 8 years. It was the best years of my life, and watching this video made me miss it. You actually passed the house I used to stay in in this video, along with an apartment complex.

Nice. I went to college with a bunch of kids from St. Louis and they would always go to Cape Girardeau for school breaks. I got the impression it was like a Midwest version of Ft Lauderdale.

Been to Cape all my life. Another random fact because why not... Drury Hotels was Founded and is still Headquartered in Cape Girardeau.

I love your videos and recently found this channel. I have lived in or have family in many of these towns you feature. You missed the mark though on Cape! Please go back and cruise Broadway and meander through the Campus and the pretty homes nearby. Their is more to the town and that's why it is a gem. :)

For sure, I worked there as a contractor for a few months. It's like its own city within itself! Fully catered kitchen and everything. Now if only they had beds.

After passing the casino, you should have made your way to Sprigg St followed by William and/or Broadway. There would have been a lot more to see than on Perryville. Also the university's name is Southeast Missouri State University.

I grew up in Cape, you drove around it not threw it. Still pretty cool since I haven't been there for a few years.

So the main street in downtown was going “around” the Cape, and not “threw it?” Through*** (Just giving you crap, I know what you mean.) This was early on in my KZfaq filmmaking journey. If it were being filmed today I would’ve gone through more of the city.

@@ChrisHarden Yes, it was. Like most towns, Main Street isn't the entire town. You just drove around the outskirts of Cape, most locals only go downtown to hit up the bars.

FYI. You drove by Old St. Vincent's Catholic Church and the old B’Nai Israel Jewish Synagogue on Main Street at the three minute mark in the video. These adjoining properties were the closet a Catholic Church and Jewish Synagogue were to each other in the World when they were both active, IIRC.

I know some people are saying you missed a lot of what Cape had to offer but I want to move there next year and this is parts of the town I really wanted to see. I dont necessarily care about the tourist spots but more the neighborhoods and working districts so thank you

Wonderful town 3 shooting every week and when they run out of bullets they stab each other. Meth and drugs thru the roof, all businesses shutting down. All crime meets in Cape Girardeau from Illinois and St louis and Memphis.

Exactly we got to do better in areas of respect and helping those in need, shopping, restaurants, and fun things to do. I was over in Paducah and man their downtown is nice, good eateries and shopping and outdoor fun spots. Again, we got to do better! They are even wanting to use our taxes to revive the mall come on now!

I've lived in Cape for about 4 years. I'd like to call it home, but I feel I have many more years to go to match my 30 years living elsewhere. The people here are great though, it has a fine mix of southern and midwestern influence which can appeal to many ideologies.

I visit Cape Girardeau often. I enjoyed your video tour. It is a nice city but you wouldn’t want to live there. They have a very serious problem that, if uncorrected, will consume the city. Every day, when the sun goes down the dark element of the population comes out and starts shooting each other. Yes. Every day.
