I can relate, but it started with a high school game, and just holding the ball got me extremely attached to the sport. I have lost 3 different volleyball but got one back. Luckily I have some upperclassmen who like to play with me and it just gets crazy to play and how fast we hit and receive the ball. I think the obsession for volleyball has gotten so far I have the Mikasa V200W but it was on sale so... But I can relate to you so much. keep up the good work with the vids

I've been playing men's volleyball for about 8 years now (started at 10) and I gotta say, I love how quickly it's been growing these past couple of years. It is scary how similar our experiences were😂 right down to watching coach Donny tutorials. I also had a “that moment” feeling that hooked me when I was with my friends at the park where I managed to back set my friend perfectly into a spike after training for weeks on my own learning how to set. I was embarrassed at first to tell people I started playing because of anime but after almost 3 years I’m pretty proud of how good of a setter I’ve become as well as an all around player so it makes it feel a lot better to tell people haikyuu was my inspiration

Im so goddamn happy to be able to play volleyball every week, it's that one thing keeping me going in a dreadful school week. This is so relatable!! I played all kinds of sports growing up, but when I started college, I stopped exercising altogether. I also didn't enjoy what I was studying and became really depressed. After two years of suffering, I decided that I needed a change. I started playing volleyball in a gym near my house, and luckily for me, I loved it! Just a couple of months later, I watched Haikyuu!!, which got me even more hooked on the sport. Volleyball helped me rediscover my love for sports to the point where I dropped out of college, became a sports technician, delved deeply into learning about the body itself, and four years later, became a physical therapist. I can say for sure that having a hobby is so worth it. I'd have never thought that an anime about a bunch of high school boys playing volleyball would have such a great impact on my life. I'm so happy I started playing volleyball! :)

Oh, I get you on so many levels. For me, it was a bit the other way around, though. I got introduced to Baseball through my uncle. He took me and my older siblings on a trip to Japan once. We saw a Baseball game there and it was SOO cool. Like, damn, Western Sports fans have nothing on that! And then my bro bought a baseball, bat and glove set and we kept playing. Then we came to school, and were able to obt for one sport that we would play for the whole semester. I always choose baseball, but basketball always won TvT So I craved to enthrall me in baseball via media and stumbled on some very cool animes and mangas about it. :3

I can relate to this! I started playing vb when I was sixteen because of Haikyuu, before I didn't have any interest in sports at all! I've been playing in a club and school/uni for four years now, since two years 3-4 times a week pretty consistently. It has benefitted my mental and physical health in a lot of ways, and gave me great experiences that I'll cherish forever. It's also crazy how all of this turned into a routine - I don't even think about whether I go to training or not, and if I can't go, something is missing and I'm sad XD. Volleyball has also peaked my interests in other sports, which is kinda cool. Also, Coach Donny is the best!

Literally same. I’ve started to play volleyball about 11 months ago. I got into it from Haikyu, but I also played it a little before with relatives. There wasn’t a team around the small town where I lived but 1 and 1/2 years ago some guys from my school managed to get trainers together and form a volleyball team. I am so obsessed with volleyball that I would play it every day of the week (If I could) and I always look forward to training on Tuesdays and Thursdays. I plan to continue getting better and playing volleyball but I have a long way to go. At least I can now do consistent and also accurate jump serves, my spikes are okay now and my receives are a bit better. I’m still working on learning a jump serve I can put all my power behind but that needs practice. In short, I loved your video I relate a ton to it, and wish you a good time improving at Volleyball! Hope you‘re having a great day.

I started using some home gym stuff, got obsessed with it, and begun playing after COVID. Now I am on my college team playing as sometimes a Setter, Opposite, or Libero. I can relate about the whole serving part for two years, it was me but against a wall, chipping the skin off of a cheap Volleyball I bought, but I don't regret it at all, I had no sports experience beforehand and it helped me develop my arm swing from basically shot putting the serve to reaching. I started getting into volleyball in high school and I actually started training with my university team but bruised my hand pretty badly during a blocked spike that I couldn’t play for MONTHS. During that time university became more overwhelming, my hand wasn’t healing properly and then the pandemic started and I never managed to get back into it because I couldn’t find a team to join or didn’t have the time. I love Haikyuu and always get teary eyed watching amazing plays or teamwork - already just the intro gets me - and it definitely rekindled my desire to find a team. I wholehearted loved hearing your whole journey and how FAR you took volleyball despite learning about it recently (tbh the Haikyuu soundtrack really does one for you better than any other form of other motivation goes lol. As a YT creator and former competitive volleyball player myself, I have so much respect for your grind, making videos and then also practicing by yourself for 2 hrs at a random park even without a net or teammates. I'm slowly reintroducing volleyball back into my life after some not so great experiences playing it competitively growing up but hoping to continue to find a positive relationship with it like you did! Also sick animation skills needless to say as well- the animation on Tsukishima's moment is definitely not lost on me haha

I started Volleyball with 14, because I watched Haikyuu with my best friend at the time. I’m 22 now and I still love this sport so much… And the most interesting thing is: It gets more fun the longer you play. The way you can manipulate your opponents, change the angle in the last milliseconds, jump slightly to the right, cross the other attacker for a short ball… Man I really fell in love with this sport. Really good video man keep us updated!!❤

I'm 56 and have been playing volleyball for 30 years. Had major shoulder surgery, multiple sprains and fractures but I always bounce back and even at this age I play 4 times a week. The day I quit is the day I die!

it's crazy how relatable this is from how i experienced falling in love with volleyball but what hooked me on volleyball wasn't getting that one jump serve that was super sick, it was digging a really hard driven spike and perfectly passing it to my setter. after that i instantly fell in love with the game even more and wanted to play every chance i got. i still want to play every chance i get but balancing life with volleyball is important. great video, definitely subbing.

My father put me on a volleyball training when i’m 10 yo. And I just got hooked by the sport. Watching Haikyuu when I’m 29yo just make me cry a lot of times. And that quote you put on your video was that hit me harder! The feeling when you do a crucial point in a match is crazy and you never forget!

How the hell are you so relative man. I binge watched it in a week and man before i never even touched the ball, but after watching it, i just bought a volleyball and started practicing at school. Although this might be my last yr in school, im glad i could make it memorable. Watching volleyball on yt and thinking im on my way to becoming a pro is just so fascinating. Keep up the gud work.

Bro this video was like watching a movie of how my last 3 years have been, started outdoors on grass and after careful critical criticism moved to indoor and haven't looked back, getting on the court makes me feel like nothing else is around me, no one to judge me except myself and how i play. Great video it brought me to tears honestly because of how much volleyball has helped me too.

I relate almost exactly to this. I had similar hobbies to you with few to get me out in the world. 2 years ago I picked up Billiards because I'd enjoyed it in the past and thought it'd be fun to join a league. Last week my team won our division playoffs, thanks in part to me crushing my opponent, and it's now hard for me to NOT talk about it. I'm so hooked. Just wait until you notice yourself making plays you only dreamt about when you started, they'll make you cry tears of joy.

I love volleyball as well. It’s the highlight of my week. Once a week i play with a group of people of all ages 2 hours against each other in random teams. I am still in school and wanted to start to play more in a actual club but my parents said that I would start too late to be good anytime. I to be honest think that that is a stupid answer since I am good in school and don’t have time problems. I just love it. Ofc I won’t do it professionally but like let me play moreeee. You encouraged me to find a way!!

speaking as someone who loves volleyball, i’m so happy people just love it, it’s seriously the coolest sport and i cannot get enough of jump serving and hitting, genuinely my dopamine highlights of my week. been putting off haikyuu for 2 years bc i’m bad at watching shows 💀 but i’ll start it eventually. seriously tho, if you’re reading this and don’t play volleyball, TRY IT it changes your life and drives you to do better in everything

This is so true 😂 I was on the varsity volleyball team in my senior year and the only thing that got me motivated to play (considering we lost basically every game but one) was the first season of Haikyuu, flash forward and I won with my team in co-ed intramurals in my third year of college-it really kept me going! I also got into watching Japan’s men’s VB team, which helped me with understanding formation better. Hope that one day I could meet or watch them in person!
