I have this guitar. I hot rodded mine, but out-of-the box the guitar was wonderful. The one that said Fender was $3500. This one was $499. I added two Fender noiseless pups, locking tuners, brass compensated saddles, and a push-pull pot for setting the pups out-of-phase and viola! A $3500 guitar for approx. $600! However, as I said, this guitar was perfect out-of-the-box.

@@andyholmes9485 Sure. What would you like to know? The pups were Fender IV gen. noiseless pups that I got for a song because musicians friend owed me some money, I got the locking tuners on ebay for about $40, I can't remember what the pot cost, but it wasn't much, and the bridge saddles ran me approx. $25. I work with a private Luthier and he did the whole thing including some extra fret polishing for $80.

@@andyholmes9485 It's hard to say really. If i had to guess I would say v ery much because locking tuners always improve tuning stability and make string changes easy. The pups are Fenders best and the brass saddles do make intonation easier. But if you don't have the extra cash, you really can not go wrong buying the guitar as is. If you're interested here's the review I did on it, www.ultimate-guitar.com/reviews/electric_guitars/squier/classic_vibe_60s_stratocaster/48653/

OK, I like this guitar and someday I hope to own one. The video is fine. The guitar checks all of the boxes. The thing that makes me shake my head is the comment made at the end of the video. The reviewer says he would switch out the pick-ups and the saddle. Well, heck the pick-ups are what gives the guitar it's sound so if you want to switch them out that means you do not like the sound of the instrument. The saddle and the nut also affect the sound of the guitar so by switching out the saddle you are now well on your way to building a new guitar. Do the above mentioned upgrades, add some shielding, change out the pots, tuners and wiring, and Shazam you have a completely different guitar. This video reminds me of the old saying, "Everything before the but is bull." The reviewer tells you how much he like the guitar and then throws in the "but I'd switch out the pick-ups and the saddle." By making this statement he invalidates everything he said in the video.

Here's an update on the same Squier model I bought a year ago. I had the pickup cavities, control cavity and pick guard shielded so there won't be any hum. I also changed the pickups to a pair of 1960s Fender Telecaster single coils. Then replaced the pots and pickups selector switch to the correct CTS Fender parts. It's "Ready to Rock" now.

That Guitar…as many are finding out, Needs Nothing. The saddles are perfect for keeping the strings perfectly spaced, (depending on what type of brass saddles you would change to they don’t keep the string spacing consistent) as far as the pickup goes it’s perfect for this type telecaster (meaning Esquire) the Tuners are the exact same type and caliber as were used back then…in other words…LEAVE IT ALONE! All you young relic mongers, don’t go scratching it all up trying to make it look old! Let the Esquire earn its marks naturally! God Bless! JSM Mentor, Ohio

Amen man. I hate to see a MADE relic.. you said it best ..let it EARN its battle scars.. that's where the mojo lies in a guitar ..in its players hands thru countless gigs , rehearsals , bedroom , living room jams , in and out of of its case , leaning against the amp. being handled, and played., and going thru the motions ...not just scratched up and looking like someone used it...right on brother..let it EARN its place ...good post man..

Well you cant compare back in day and modern prices like that. Price inflation has to be calculated. They never costed "400" dollars. More like 100-150 dollars and in todays price it would be 1500-1700$. If they costed 400 dollars back in the day it would be 3.5k in todays inflation.

@maxguitarstore
@maxguitarstore 3 жыл бұрын
The fretboard feels really nice. Looks different than rosewood ofcourse! Resonance of the body is dependent on more factors than the choice of wood. Dryness matters and I believe also the lacquer used makes a difference. With Squiers there are brilliant ones but also less brilliant ones. That's why we always recommend to test a guitar in a store before you buy and to only buy online if you really have no other option. Because chances are you will not bond with it.

How did the neck feel on this guitar? It’s been about 8 months of playing for me and considering buying this one.

@@isaiahkim8215 Sorry I meant to write fat neck. But the original neck was very skinny. The Chinese made one anyway.

i thought i just loved the telecaster more because of its look, and preferred the strat for its sound, but idk man, the tele still sounds really good. i might buy my first electric tomorrow, which is definitely gonna be the classic vibe, but it’s way too difficult for me to choose between the two models.

@@BigBSinclair i eventually ended up with the strat classic vibe 60’s. im pretty happy with it. stays in tune pretty well, and overall just does its job great. honestly even if i went with the telecaster i don’t think i would’ve preferred the other and vice versa, because i’m still a beginner and i can’t tell too much differences. but i do know they’re both really awesome guitars. just like what the reply above yours says, it’s great to just end up with both someday. have a great day!!

@@biscuits2463 I'm glad you're happy with it! I just picked up my first electric this weekend, a Squier Classic Vibe Telecaster 50s in butterscotch blonde. I just love it!

Think I’ll pick one of these up and replace the neck, pickups and bridge it’ll work out cheaper than an umpteen thousand dollars fender custom tele

As much as I would say the classic vibe series is good, I find it funny that people say it’s the best guitar at its price point. I’ve found revelation and and vintage electrics (better hardware and woods) to be right up their maybe even better for cheaper. Funny they aren’t part of the conversation…
