Blazing sun, cicadas singing, and watermelon seem to be the staples of a hot summer. Watermelons in Yunnan mature just in time for the start of the season, with the first fruits enjoyed by the end of March and then distributed across the country. Picking watermelons might not feel like a great achievement, as they are large and heavy and you can't pick many at once, but the joy of eating watermelon is irreplaceable-sweet, juicy, and refreshingly cool! If that's not enough, prepare a feast with watermelon to make it refreshing, appetizing, and satisfyingly spicy!

The relationship between Penji and her grandfather is clearly very precious. Every episode Penji always makes sure grandpa eats soft and good things for his teeth and grandpa is always proud of his granddaughter's delicious cooking and praises her dishes whilst always smiling and laughing. The love is clear! What wonderful watermelon creations, Penji's skill in decorating and making not only delicious but truly beautiful foods always shines.

I'm 64 years old and live in America. I have never heard about cooking, boiling or frying watermelon, unless making watermelon candy or jam. Here in the USA, it's usually always cold but not frozen unless making ice cream, and eaten separately by itself or in a fruit salad. This was nice to see it prepared a different way.. 💖
