There were endless spots where they could have been hurt in this video, maybe not critically injured, but still injured. I thought it was a scary video to watch. Probably because I've faced these exact moves since I'm a lover of off trail and done a lot of bushwhacking. Nothing's harder than bushwhacking up a steep hill through shoulder high brush. And then throw in the insects! Its a nightmare and you feel like you're on the edge of being overwhelmed emotionally. Also, I thought this woman's moves in dicey situations showed intelligence in that she knew you can't just launch yourself and hope it works, you have to know you're controlling your hand and feet placement. She knows what she's doing and has a very high work capacity. I saw their video of a one day ascent of Mt. Shasta. Very impressive couple.

Thanks very much -- that means a lot to us coming from a fellow bushwhacker. You are absolutely right about the difficulty of going uphill through shoulder-high brush -- it made boulder scrambling upstream for 2 1/2 miles seem almost refreshing! We really appreciate the compliment. ❤️

For a moment there I thought Elise was going to break down and eat one of Adam's pop-tarts! What an adventure! Has to be one of my favorites of your videos, especially with Elise's sense of humor throughout and seeing you guys experiencing so much joy at the end.

Haha thanks so much -- this is one of my favorite videos too for the exact same reason! I felt really proud of keeping my sense of humor even though, as you could see, I was really having a hard time on the way out and was on the verge of giving up several times if Adam hadn't willed me through. It really was pure joy at the waterfall, and I didn't even mind the hike back after I got to experience that incredible place! ❤️ --E

it was epic! So Adam, in the spirit of your poetic interlude, I call this sequel of sorts "Elegy written in a country church office." (be gentle - I only spent a few minutes on it!) The flying bugs that swarm’d like angry bees, have faded much the way of evening light. the task be accomplished, everyone sees; The sufferfest o’er, giving way to night. Oh waterfall! Unseen by human eye, Your glory and thunder impress the soul. your depths and rapids we could not deny, but beholding your beauty was our goal. thanks as always for taking us along!

OMG Jeff you absolutely made my day! Love it. If only "The sufferfest o'er" had occurred somewhere in the canon 😂 Did you know that the romantic poets, particularly Wordsworth and Coleridge, loved doing sufferfest-style hikes in the Lake District? They would go out all day and come home totally exhausted. Anyway, many thanks -- brought brought a huge smile to my face. --A

@@LiveHardxLoveHard yes!! Indeed! I totally get it! Last June during our road trip my friend and I did an unplanned afternoon hike w/ only 2 tiny tangerines and some water in our packs up Nevada Falls in Yosemite (after learning closures for Inspiration Point and Taft Point), we were so hungry and tired but the journey to see the waterfall was totally worth it. Don’t know when will visit that part of the country again, it made our trip so memorable for the national park. 😊

I have done nothing that compares to that hike, but I do have a waterfall story. There is a place near where I live called "Fall Creek Falls" State Park. A couple of buddies and myself were contracted to do a video for the parks, this is decades back (and yeah, it's on YT). It was a fantastic adventure, and at the time (can't speak for now), the falls was runnning very similar to the one you showed. The trail was easy, nothing to tell there, but the falls had carved out a plunge pool at the bottom, and a few were swimming in it. Fun, but no big deal. I thought, what would it be like to go inside the falls, and I did just that. It was like stepping inside a hurricane, then just as easily you could step out, then back in. The hardest part was the trip out, still NO comparison to your trail since it was well manicured, but the grade was VERY steep, so I was breathing hard at the end. Enjoyed the video, WOW, what a climb. Tim

You have to admit EPIC falls. That has to blow your minds when you arrived there. Poetry, sunshine, and always take the ridge. The swarming bug hair is classic! Rainbow Falls in July August seriously are the gold standard for swim. Mount Ritter/Devils Postpile/San J river, Take a life jacket if you want to be comfortable and float near falls. Definitely for kids. I wasn't kidding on Sherman pass from westside/100 giants sides. The river down the steep gorge at cascades is perfect in low flow. Kern River Kernville area. GREAT VIDEO! AS USUAL. BRUSH=GAITERS AND OR Z German fancy pants. You know the ones. Generally I avoid brush, which is why I stay out of the Wasatch range foothills. This really reminds me of Okinawa climbing up in the creeks, way hotter so being in the water wasn't an issue, warm not cold.

It would've been awesome if you could've climbed up and seen what was in that reservoir and maybe there would've been an elevated pool! I know you guys were super tired though. Man if you had to back the same way you came then that was ultra craziness! Super secluded spot! You guys should keep going back and setting a better trail so maybe you can go back if you want and make that place your special place. That waterfall is how waterfalls are where I live except the water is tinted and is rum or tea colored from all the plant material and the rocks are black or brown or reddish with crazy moss and plants and trees growing all around them. Right now because of the snow melt the waterfalls are crazy and there are little waterfalls everywhere from small seasonal creeks.

It's so funny, because of all the insane hard core hikes and climbs you guys have done on high mountains and deserts, this one seemed to be as challenging as the best of them. Unless you have bushwhacked off trail, you can't appreciate this kind of adventure and how hard it can be. I have done it a couple of times, and I can attest that it is insanely hard! My buddy and I were scratched bloody by thorns and brambles, which from a distance, looked so soft and plushy. But up close, they became vicious, cruel brambles determined to eat us alive. It takes hours just to push through just a few miles. Not for the faint of heart! At least you were rewarded by a waterfall!
@LiveHardxLoveHard
@LiveHardxLoveHard Жыл бұрын
That's totally true, David -- it's really hard to understand how difficult bushwhacking is, especially in ultra-steep and overgrown terrain where you're always afraid of toppling backwards! Thank goodness we didn't have any brambles though -- that sounds absolutely brutal (though it's probably still a great memory for you guys now!). Anyway, thank goodness that waterfall was epic -- we really needed it by that point! ❤️
