@@Riwillion they do have "scales". Like the reply above me said, they are structurally more similiar to teeth, named "dermal denticles". They function similiary to scales, protecting them from bodily harm. If you see videos about breaking down sharks, you will see the butcherer sharpening their knives often because they get dulled instantly from the ragged denticles of the shark.

Thank you for this amazing video, truly you are the hero of our time. I also love how the two Dead Space protags are there just standing awkwardly (though I suspect the soldier is hiding his nosebleed under that helmet) and pondering if they should do something or is it creepy if they enjoyed watching.
