You did everything correct darling! I hope that you feel better now and that this tattoo won’t leave a horrible mess and scars (if so I would acctually go to court against these dickheads). Just want to tell you this, as a nurse, to proove how wrong they are: Doctors does absolutley have very good knowledge about how the skin work and healing processes. They all can also very easily tell the difference between infection and allergic reaction. This artist however clearly has no knowledge of any of those things nor about how antibiotics work. They do not pro-long the healing process - if that was the case you would never get strong antibiotics for preventive purposes before certain surgerys. They obviously also doesn't know how much doctors hesitate to prescribe antibiotics because the more antibiotics a person takes, the greater the risk that they become carriers of resistant bacteria - which can lead to the person having another, perhaps more serious - such as a sepsis, infection by these resistant bacteria then cannot be helped with antibiotics or at least is very difficult to help.❤

I have several tattoos, and hate these types of ‘artists’ who are rude, condescending, and aggressive towards anyone who might complain. They’re always bad at tattoos as well! A few tattoos ago I was a week into the healing process when my cat jumped on me and caught me with his back claws, right across the new tattoo. I called my artist, who had me go in so he could assess the damage, he gave me advice on how to deal with it and what to look out for, and sent me away with antibacterial soap and made me promise to ring him if I had any problems. It didn’t end up getting infected, and he touched up the ink for free after the whole thing healed, even though none of the damage was down to him at all. That’s why I trust my tattoo artist! I hope this girl can get her infection cleared up, and the tattoo fixed by someone else. 💜💜💜

It's not an allergic reaction and that's evident from the concentration of inflammation and purulence SOLELY where the skin was penetrated with the needle with no telltale hives/rash on the entire area of skin. Not that anyone with any sense confuses a crusty, oozing infection with an allergic reaction but unless she applied the saniderm precisely only to the tattoo rather than over the entire patch of skin, it doesn't make sense even if there weren't obvious signs of infection... @@kszoknyik I don't think that tattoo was actually infected (I used to be a tattoo artist) I think what happened is the client either got bad aftercare instructions or was having a reaction to the ink + colored tattoos tend to look super gross when healing because of the pigment & the blood/enzymes all mixing together and can be mistaken as an infection especially if the persons skin is rejecting the ink. Antibiotics can slow the healing process on a tattoo because it doesn't work the same as say a cut due to the ink being a foreign object in the body. The artist was correct in everything she said. The owner on the other hand is (in my opinion) where everything went wrong. If he wasn't so awful I think this could have been handled very easily and calmly but unfortunately he seems like a terrible human and caused a lack of trust in the client which is where the real problem happened. Tattooing is all about trust and vulnerability so him saying what he did no one can blame the client for not listening to anyone else at the shop even though the artist was saying all true things. Even the Neosporin part, you really should never put that on a healing tattoo even if infected bc it will make It worse. The best thing to do is keep it clean by washing with gentle soap, my favorite is orange dial and keep it dry but not like super dry so the infection can heal up. If this tattoo was infected it would have been red/swollen/hot to the touch and it didn't look red at all just like the skin was rejecting the ink which isn't uncommon especially with pigments containing red and yellow. red/yellow are the most common pigments people reject and or are allergic to. The tattoo really didn't look that bad...obviously it didn't look good either but it was nothing to be super concerned about which is why the owner really f**ked up by reacting the way he did. I'm sure if he had a calm conversation with the client about the healing process on color tattoos and what rejected ink looks like it would have been fine. In my opinion I don't blame the client or the artist and fully blame the owner.

@@schuii6195, I believe the second photo we saw was taken after the infection had started to clear, so that's why it doesn't look so bad. Same!! A lot of people (including tattoo artists) are commenting how getting an infection is "not acceptable" - when it's actually quite common (because usually they are simple bacterial infections that can happen from an allergy reaction or excessive heat, especially if you live in a warm country, and can be easily healed with a course of topical and oral antibiotics), when two of my coloured tattoos have been infected and the second time I realized that this only happens to me when I do large coloured tattoos (FYI, I have a total of 37 tattoos, both black and coloured). Regardless, my tattoo artist always checked up on me (both times), every single day, helped me to properly care for it... and that was it!! I felt a lot less anxious and both my tattoos healed amazingly. It doesn't take money to be nice and empathetic ❤

listen- that tattoo is ROTTING, that's not an allergy. usually allergies in tattoos come from specific colours (often red ink iirc) and the skin would simply reject the ink and scab over, which looks VERY DIFFERENT to an infection which is absolutely what happened here. it's the lack of accountability and the poor grammar for me 💀

I mean, ive had an allergic reaction to ink (all my tattoos are blackwork) and the skin around the lines literally split open and was so incredibly sore... the ink did reject once the splitting healed but its not as simple as your skin just spitting out the ink and scabbing over...

I used to be a tattoo artist and an infected tattoo will be red and swollen/hot to the touch. That tattoo wasn't red at all. I think her skin was just rejecting the ink which isn't uncommon with pigments containing red/yellow (the pink will have red in it). Do I think the owner handled it well at all?? ABSOLUTELY NOT. but I also don't think it was infected.

I feel a good rule of thumb may be to not let someone tattoo you if you don't see them putting NEW needles onto their gun, if the coverings on the gun aren't brand new and CLEAN, and their flash sheets are filled with a style you want drawn by their hand. I've been lucky to never had an infected tattoo, but something like this shouldn't happen if an artist genuinely cares about what they're doing and isn't just in it for the money or fame. But I digress...

The use of antibiotics to treat an infected tattoo CAN affect the healing process because it can cause the ink to be expelled from the area. BUT it is necessary for an infection like this one. I am a professional tattoo artist, and I always explain after care very clearly to my clients and tell them to reach out if something happens with the tat. If this would to happen to me, I'd try to figure out what happened and suggest a free touch up. The attitude and the way this was handled was completely unprofessional, but sadly, it's fairly common in old school tattoo shops.

I got a staph infection in my tattoo a couple months after getting it (it's an open wound for months). It was not from the shop, but I went to a large convention and had the infection after, but any reputable shop will give advice on the tattoo. They will say "this is normal, do this to heal it better" or "this needs medical attention" . I had to take a lot of antibiotics and get a cover up (i paid obviously) but that's all they had to do. Say "get medical care immediately"

@emmie_lou_who Ай бұрын
People who have very sensitive skin can have a reaction to saniderm. If youre unaware of saniderm it's a clear film like bandage that was originally used for burn victims. It alows for your own body to heal the tattoo without needing to clean and apply tattoo safe ointment or lotions. Youre meant to wear the first piece for 24 hours and them remove it, wash it, and let the skin air dry, then put a new piece on. The second piece you wear for up to 5 days. In theory, by the time you take it off, a lot of the healing has taken place and you can continue with lotion through the rest of the healing. I dont have any trouble with it other than a little itchiness towards the end. My niece cannot wear it she gets a rash from it which causes everyhing under it to get hot and slightly raised. In her case our tattoist told her to remove it, wash the tattoo and surrounding area , and then continue applying a tattoo safe ointment or lotion. If this girl is allergic and didn't remove the saniderm that could have caused an infection but the tattooist or anyone at the shop should have advised her to remove it if this was the case.

As a person who has 7 tattoos (planning the 8th one currently, healed all of them successfully), I can say that tattoo was definitely done very "heavy handed" and it WAS infected. The client's skin will be scarred for sure after this. I'm sensitive to second skin, so I always use the "traditional" method to heal my tattoos by using a light tattoo healing cream with plastic foil wrap in the first few critical days (changed in every 4 hours, using a gentle antibacterial cleansing at each change, using only paper to dry it gently so no fibre and bacteria can go in the wound from the towel etc.). If the tattoo artist didn't go too rough on the skin, respected all the hygiene rules during the tattooing and properly informed their client about the after care (and they followed up with it!), then the healing process should go without complications. This clearly didn't happen in this case. The client's only mistake was acting out of desperation (which is understandable, an infection this close to major blood veins is no joke). Based on this guy's social media you can see he is a major @sshole with no talent and no respect. But unfortunately a lot of people, specially people who is about to do their 1st tattoo often make the mistake that they don't check properly who they are going to, so this is why he can still be in business unfortunately. Do your researches, it is your body and your health folks.

I’ve had reactions to both ink and to saniderm on 2 separate tattoos. Nothing about that photo suggests an allergic reaction; that is flat out infected. I’m always amazed at how absolutely horrible people can keep their businesses running for as long as they do. They need to have health inspectors check that shop out.

I recently got my wrists tattooed with one inch black bands around them, and one of them got infected but it was totally my fault. I scraped it against my laptop while trying to catch said laptop, and banged it up pretty good. Even though I washed it directly after hitting it, it still got pretty messed up, so my wife went and bought bandages, anti bacterial soap, and some really nice antibiotic cream. We cleaned it, but antibiotic cream on it, and kept it wrapped for a week, changing the bandages twice every day. My tattoo is now full healed and looks amazing, so I got super lucky and it didn't mess up the color. I feel so bad for this poor girl. The way the owner acted is unacceptable.

Always do your research before getting a tattoo or piercing. Even go to the tattoo parlor itself to see if they clean in-between their clients: needles, stations, etc. If they don't, don't go to them. I remember reading an article about a girl that got a tattoo on her foot and it completely came up out of her skin. She has a Star shaped scar in her foot from an infected tattoo.

Wow, this is wild! It never ceases to amaze me how unprofessional some business owners act. That’s never how an owner should treat a customer, especially when a health risk is involved! I feel so badly for this person because that tattoo looked very painful and raw. As someone who has a full back tattoo, I sat in the chair for many hours over several visits with no issue and then developed an infection after my last visit. My tattoo artist and the shop owner were excellent with communication and incredibly apologetic and helpful. I never blamed them because both family and I were customers for a long time and knew that they took all precautions. They’re a really clean shop and have really wonderful artists who care about the people that they tattoo. That said, any time you’re making a wound like that there is a small bit of risk. It was kind of a freak one-off thing and they were very helpful, so I’m thankful for that and that’s what I would expect. The doctor prescribed me antibiotics because it was cellulitis and the pain was awful. It took a lot of time to heal and I’m lucky that it was ok in the end. My tattoo artist offered to touch it up for me for free at any point down the road and I know he felt awful about it. It was unfortunate, but I still love my tattoo and the shop. I think it is the mark of a good business when they really care and take care of you when something goes awry. I would 100% prefer to support that instead of someone like that Paul guy even if his tats were any good.

This is wild. I did piercings before and I do hair now and I was not allowed to tell anyone they had an infection or how to treat it and I feel like that’s the same for tattoos. I know it’s not the same state but I would think most states have this law. If someone thinks they have an infection or you think someone has an infection you have to say “it LOOKS like it may be infected. Please see a doctor” same for cosmos and other beauty techs. Again this is the law in MY state but I can imagine most states have the same rules.

@13:00 I know for someone outside of the body modification world it would sound odd that a doctor of all things wouldn't understand the healing process of a tattoo but I promise you that unless you have a GP with tattoos themselves or they know someone personally who's healed a tattoo they literally have no idea what they're on about, at least from my experience. I am a fairly tattooed person (I have my neck, chest, both my arms and hands, most of my right leg and half of my right leg fully covered). In my experience doctors, especially older more aesthetically conservative GPs are fairly clueless when it comes to caring for any body mods. About 8 years ago now I had some excessive scarring on the inside of my mouth from my healed lip piercing, went to the doctors and was instantly told to remove the piercing and that it was infected. I was 17 and devastated so I went to my piercer who told me it's for sure not infected and that my situation was common with oral piercings because the skin inside your mouth heals over very fast and so can scar over sometimes. I was told to put some tooth gel on the scars and they went away in three days. I am now 24 and still have said piercing and its literally 100% fine. Also I have had an algeric reaction to saniderm and it didn't look anything like that tattoo it was blisters not the off coloured scabbing like that. In most situations I personally prefer the good old cling film and mircopor tape method over second skin/saniderm. I would also recommend to just just message your artist first before going to any doctors (especially if you're American and you've got to pay) if you're having a difficult time with healing, USUALLY tattoo artists are very understanding and helpful people (which some doctors aren't depending on their personal opinions on body mods). I have never in my almost 8 years of getting tattooed been spoken to by anyone in the tattoo industry like that, for the most part everyone I've met through tattoos has been lovely.
