And, parents are an example of learning how to relax, how to "just" sit and ponder, how to stop and watch, endeavoring not to miss the little details of beauty and inspiration around us. I still remember how hard-working and active my father was. Yet, he would take an evening to sit outside and watch a thunderstorm with me or to belly-flop into the grass and observe the microscopic ecosystems under our noses. He would get library books and quietly read without feeling guilty. We'd watch sunsets together without having to say a word. It was good for him, of course; but, it was a super lesson for us kids who still remember his actions in "inactions." Allow your mind and body to have regular recess out on the playgrounds of your choice!

I'm only 10 minutes in, and I'm loving this podcast. Thank you so much, both of you! God bless!!! I learned to rest and go slower the hard way - both mental/emotional burnouts, and physical chronic pain developed and not disappearing. It's true, our souls are infinite, but our bodies are finite and must be taken care of, this includes *all* the rest we need, not more, not less - of course we'll never be perfect at that either. I'm just trying to add to the encouragement of being okay with resting and finding that a priority, so we can keep going! God bless you all! ❤❤❤

Hello, I just read your comment. Would you mind sharing what you were convicted about? I found the video interesting but I wouldn't say it was convicting, so I'm just curious. Thanks. Take care.

I needed to hear this today. I recently left the Catholic Church after really getting into the faith I was raised in. It seemed like there was always something else that I was supposed to be doing in order to help myself and my family and my friends and souls in purgatory. Definitely a works based faith. There is so much that I want to read and learn and they’re just doesn’t seem to be enough hours in the day even though I’m retired. I need to continually remind myself that I am only human. God expects me to do my best and that’s good enough.

Great interview/ podcast. I too struggle with quiet/pausing/rest, feeling guilty if I’m not listening to an audiobook or podcast when I’m walking, working, even resting. I also agree with him in that my prayer life suffers because I frequently fail to see a direct impact of my prayer. Reading the Bible produces tangible progress that can be tracked. Also loved the line, “parenting is managing the “No” with your kids” (I probably didn’t get that exactly right). I’m often made to feel I’m being selfish if I say no to anything. Great stuff!

Hi Faith, Thank you for this podcast. I can certainly see why you’re still a fan of this professor. Due to health issues that I’ve been battling for years, the two books that y’all talked about could be of help to me so I’m planning on getting those two books. I will also be checking out other resources that y’all discussed. God bless, Janet

The young man that Kelly referenced that he would sit for 25 minutes letting the thoughts come, reminds me of Barb Raveling's truth journaling. You write out the thoughts in your head and then look over what you wrote and if there are lies you address them with the truth. So hard to do but definitely worth the effort.

John Owen is hard but wonderful. I'm reading the death of death in the death of Christ. It's wonderful. Overcoming sin and temptation is wonderful as well. I just typically have to read with a notebook and a dictionary.

Faith, What is the Book of Enoch? Was it really removed from the Bible? Would reading it grow my understanding of the Lord, or would it corrupt my thinking? Please help. Thank you in advance! ❤
@josephwomack4683

It was removed from the Canon, yes. Reading it can help you in your understanding of the time, culture, views, etc. But it should not be treated as the same importance with Scripture because it is not included

Yes! It’s often forgotten, but ceativity and craftsmanship is actually the very first gifts of the Spirit in the Bible! In Exodus 31:1-6 God says He has filled Bezalel with the Spirit of God so he can create all the things needed for the Tabernacle. Creativity is the first spiritual gift given to us by God, but it’s not listed in Paul’s letters so it’s often overlooked.

A little bit of a God complex going on here. This is all you think that God can’t be glorified unless you’re moving unless you’re doing. You’re always telling us how it’s not about you it’s about glorifying God so be still and know that he is God, psalm 46,10
