In this video, Howard Ritchie takes a deep dive into the heart of the high-performance beast that is the Mercedes-AMG A45.
It’s truly one of the hottest hatches on the market, with more than 400hp coaxed from its 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine if you opt for the ‘S’ variant.
The interior is a marvel too; Howard takes a look at the latest MBUX system, checks out the high-tech gadgets, discovering that the A45 is essentially a perfect blend of premium luxury and performance.

@emiliospowerballer1441 24 to 26 mpg. I was a bugger for 2nd and 3rd gear😀. Mostly people say about 28ish.

It's preference, RS3 more comfortable and more relaxed, good straight liner, and a much larger platform for tuning however the a45s is 1000% more engaging just feels more of a race car, 1000% more fun, drift mode, good short daily driver and has it's tuning potentials. Being in a hatchback with that high boost pressure in the a45s is really a feeling the bigger cars can't give like the rs6 or e63 due to weight etc...

I agree about the tuning, I'm looking at both and I'm leaning towards the Merc because I feel the RS3 is a bit more...how do I say this without upsetting people, targeted towards younger drivers, not that that's a bad thing, it's just a bit more Fast and Furious If you get what I'm saying, the amount of tuning videos online with people upgrading to nutter BHP, It's just not for me, but I am on the wrong side of 40.

@@MrSlpierceI’ve owned the new rs3. Also driven the new a45s. The A45s is actually more nuts, if you compare both as stock. The RS is a better everyday car but overall the A45s is more fun and engaging. Pick the Merc. It’s better.

Plus Rs3 has the same look and interior of an A3 which is a shame. This AMG beats RS3 at the looks department and also at interior. Perfect car except the sound.

l was caught up between the 2 but l settled for the A45 in the end, previous car was cla45 2019 you just cant find that sort of power any where for the price your paying, personal preference comes in as well audi have a way nicer front end but l still chose the A45 incabin feel just feels way worth the coin you are dropping. Audi seems too plain

I owned a 2017 gla 45 (the old model ) absolute riot of a rally car but was let down by having a basic interior and without adaptive dampers was stiffer than a viagra overdose. This gen of A class is very very cool and modern. Ive driven a facelift A class when my E63s had a safety recall and i was inpressed at what the little baby standard A class is capable of. The 45s seems a proper hooligan

Mate just stumbled on your videos, and gotta say you're very good at this! Nice creative humour and punch lines. You should be on Top Gear. I'm kinda tired of watching Matt Watson's samey old style of reviews and always the bias towards BMW.

thats a sub from me. Ive just bought a 2018 a45 premium and i love it but... after watching this im a bit jealous. That interior looks phenomenal. The FL has lights inside but they are dull as shit. Still such a great car to drive though

Picking mine up in a week, them seats aren't too bad BUT for long drives l wouldn't recommended still got it cause they just look to good not to have. The center touch pad is moved to the steering wheel keeping drivers hands on the wheel at all time. That is still the only down side to the interior not having anything useful where track pad was on previous models, they just straight up deleted it and put a ashtray there.. lol

Am i missing these types of cars point? I drive a Z4 m40i its not as ultimately fast. it's not as grippy and definitely not as powerful but it has that something that gives me joy that no other car has. These cars are epic, i understand that but i see them as high performance dailies not my special weekend car. If i needed a daily then wow yes please but as my go-to play thing/toy then id not be at the frontline of that que

ive just bought a 18 plate a45 and although i really like it, it just hasnt given me the same feeling of pure adrenalin older manual fast cars did even though its obviously quicker. I think its the interior noise when driving. It almost sounds piped in like a tesla. i remember being 16/17 and in cars that revved quicker and threw you back and the a45 doesnt feel like that. Its very nice and great to drive but i just miss the feeling of old thin metal manual cars. I miss those days. life was better

ford focus RS is horrible inside but its a drivers car. im two weeks into owning one but i almost wish i bought two cheaper fun cars than one really nice one

Agree with everything said here apart from stiffness - as a passenger they are horrendously shockingly stiff concrete in-between the springs stiff imo

Nice car but way too expensive especillay when it doesnt have a real exhaust. A golf r with a stage 1 tune is just as quick

thats my biggest gripe about it. Bought an 18 plate FL 381 but the exhaust sound fake when booting it. Sounds good on start up but sounds piped in while driving it

@burglekutbawbag7275 they are mega quick but after spending that amount I couldn't live with fake pipes. The R is almost 20k cheaper and only marginally slower because of the gearbox and at least gas connected exhaust tips!

They don't bother with this one much do they? I know the original A45 was driven by loads of immature nuts but they quickly abandoned it as their mule of choice. I could be wrong ofcourse but I don't see many of these at all (they don't have a good loud exhaust so I doubt yobs will be interested in this)
