Shure has a tough road ahead justifying their super high price for this product. In this domain, established rivals offer proven products at more reasonable prices

There is literally nothing here that would make this worth $500+ when their competitors have more features (and even smaller form factors) for between $150-$300. It doesn't record internally (much less the 32 bit float you get on Rode & DJI mics). It doesn't have lav connectors. My Comica mics are just as small. The sound quality is not better than any of the options above $200. This is a $300+ upcharge for waterproofing.

My first “real” mic was the Shure Lenshopper so I’ve got a soft spot for the company but I’m not sold on this one. It does sound crunchy as someone else said and it seemed like it was clipping a bit when going straight into the iPhone. It’s coming in at the Pro mic kit price but a mic without an onboard recording option isn’t Pro. DJI Mic 2 is probably going to hold the top spot for awhile. For $179 I picked up the Hollyland Lark M2 full kit and it outdoes the Shure in every aspect with exception to the water resistance.

Audio quality from it is really good Tamara. My question is, is it $500 good?? The same question for the one at half the cost. If I'm being honest, no, it's not. 😎 Also, water resistance for a vlogging lav mic of any brand, style, or cost is not a selling point for me as I rarely vlog in nasty weather. As always, your review is great, but again, if I'm being honest, I often watch your videos because of the superb quality and production you put into making them, such an inspiration for me. 💜

This mic sounds super crunchy in the middle frequencies (I would estimate at around the 2k mark), that would give me (a sound editor) pause, especially at the price point, listen to that wicked crack at 43" on the 'k' in 'keen' for instance.

You're showing just how good Shure has been plugging along with their outstanding products over the years. I worked with Shure studio microphones of various types more than 40 years ago (training in studio techniques when Kate Bush was belting out albums of love) in recording studios. Right up there with Sennheiser and Neumann. And now, as it was then, wayyyy out of my price range. Beautiful cardioid patterns and dynamic specification being the penultimate offering in sound, these Shure microphones are a blessing if you can afford them. Thank you for showing us what can be attained!

These are cool, the direct Bluetooth and IPx ratings are great features, but I would still prefer my Hollyland. The Hollyland's mics and transmitters are smaller and more discreet.

Virtually every review I've seen on the Movemic has had superb audio, for me exceeding that given by DJI/Rode wireless kits. But it seems the Shure has a fatal flaw. It's a wireless lav, but the windmuff is next to useless with any sort of wind (which you can detect with your outdoor trials despite wind presence being pretty minimal).

Thank you so much for the heads up. Shure equipment has always been top notch and will give these a look. The sound here is very clean and looking at the specs the ambient intrusion is adjustable in the app.

As some people mentioned elsewhere, it doesn't make much sense if only the receivers are waterproof but not with the transmitter (not to mention the camera), unless you only want to connect it by bluetooth to a waterproof phone.

Sounds pretty good. Looks like the app lets you adjust compression, which may make up for lack of 32 bit or an actual limiter. Would be nice to have noise reduction as well.

Another solid option is the Fulaim X5, which I've been using for over a year now (came from Rode Wireless Go II). It's also 1/3rd the price of the Shure MoveMic Two, and doesn't have a massive receiver :)

Wonder whether direct Bluetooth connection to a phone without the receiver result in a worst audio quality-like with DJI's Mic 2. BTW, Shure sure uses only 16 bit audio when using Bluetooth, not even 24 bit. So, there should be differences in audio Bluetooth vs receiver.

I'm curious about the type of range you can expect using this mic and obstacle interference.

I believe Hollyland Lark M2 has way smaller foot print than this one. Mics are size of a button. And is so easy to put anywhere as there are so many options.

Its a hard pass just based on price. At $249 its way overpriced vs its competitors. DJI's Mic 2 is $99!!!

Tamara I saw a review where the Shure kept loosing signal. You're the only one where I've heard the audio sounding good.

Instamic. onboard recording , 32 bit , waterproof, 199 USD. fits inside motorcycle helmet , magnetic and velcro and action cam attachments. Easy for newbies. Only one mic but for my use on the motorbike its perfect I use it on tutorial videos for work as well. Battery lasts about 12 hours. This shure mic looks a little smaller though which might be even better for inside the helmet but... costly. Suspect it comes down to pro vs prosumer ?

Too expensive no 32bit not available in white and no way to add a lav mic, sorry its a hard pass, it sounds good though. FYI you have to state at the beginning of the video you got the microphone sent to you free.

@Tamara it sounds great. The selling point for me is the branding (or lack thereof). I’m about to push the button on it now…and I JUST bought the DJI Mic 2. I just can’t stand that branding that DJI and Rode have. That’s very important to me.

The quality of your update looks amazing as always but these opinion seemed a bit contrived for me. Like bought and paid for. I understand this is a fine line to walk as an influencer because brand be sending you these nice things for free tht you get to keep or re-sell but your credibility is at stake, too.
