Photo Owl Time Lapse

Photo Owl Time Lapse

8 ай бұрын

Over the course of (no spoilers) days, this close-up time-lapse captures a zucchini (courgette) rotting, becoming moldy, and being consumed by maggots. For a long time, the zucchini remained unchanged, which was surprising. But once it began to rot, the decay progressed rapidly. Initially, the vegetable started to shrink and dry out. However, once insects discovered the fruit, they accelerated the decomposition process.
Zucchini time lapse

Fun Fact: The world record for the longest zucchini is over 8 feet! Can you believe that? :D

He answered this question about 2 years ago to someone. He used to keep them all out in his barn and had about 3-4 projects running at any given time. As of now, it's probably closer to 10 or more, and considering the setups still look the same, I imagine they're still out in the barn.

I can't believe how long that took, thank you for making this timelapse. I've been watching your videos on and off for a few years and always find them so cool. I was wondering, do you intentionally release insects into your area where you do the timelapse or do they just eventually find the rotting food? I can't imagine the smell 😅

From someone who has been following you for a few years, but is completely ignorant to videography and editing (let alone time-lapse)....the first pan from left to right, that took about a month in real time....as far as frame orientation, that was editing right? I can't imagine it was just a very, very slow moving tripod! 😆 Thanks for the years of great content, bruv! Stay well!

Thanks for your support over the years, it means a lot (I know it sounds cliché, but still) Yes, that is editing. My tripods can't turn. There are some that can turn or move, but it would be hard to set them up because I don't always know how long a project will go on when I start them. I just guess, and sometimes I'm right sometimes I'm wrong about it. It would result in many failed time lapses, and even with static tripods I already have so many failed ones. (I will upload a video of them at 1M subscribers, I save every photo and video I take) :)

The motorized turning tripods/stands are mostly used to take stable pictures of things that have very low light, and are moving in a predictable pattern (such as faraway planets, the milky way, etc.) they are extremely expensive, and complicated to set up, so they are mostly used for astro-photography in combination with a telescope with a camera mount :)

I find that letting the flies do their work allows you to have a more authentic insight into natural evolution. So don't chase them away. I find it better like that. People wonder how flies get there, you have to ask them. No matter the place, they always manage to get through. I imagine that you must put a fan on your video device, it must heat up a lot! And the size of the video, especially in 8K, requires huge memory storage ! I would have liked to know the origin of this vegetable. Store or vegetable garden ? I know well the evolution of horse manure, people cannot imagine that in a single year, it goes from odorous excrement to real odorless compost. Excellent for the garden. Anyway, I love all your videos ! The idea is simple, but the execution, I don't think. Thanks for sharing !
