One of my favourite bands of the early to mid-eighties, till they split up, fortunately, their lead singer Chris Norman, made it big on his own, can you belief it, he still performing well in his seventies, especially big in Germany, he made hundreds of excellent songs, I got most of them. Mel and Shawn keep them coming, Gerard

.. That is and was the original Smokie.. Chris Norman made a lot of music with his boys.. They were all friends from school.. You should also listen to him with "Midnight Lady", "I close my eyes", "If you think you know how 5o love me", "baby it's up to you", Take good care of my baby", "Some hearts are Diamonds", "For a few Dollars more"..

Saw them live in a 1500 seat theatre and they were amazing. Chris Norman left and was replaced by a friend of theirs, Alan Barton who died when their tour bus slid off an icy road. Chris has any solo albums. Alan did a fantastic job and didn't sound a lot different to Chris. They now had another lead singer.

Another good song is 'I'll Meet You At Midnight. A few years ago now I watched a documentary about Smokie touring China. The first western to do this for many years. They found out a popular Chinese song of the time and learned to play it western style in Chinese. Well to say it brought the house down is an understatement. The ausdience went wild and the Chinese security didn't know what to do.

So glad you liked it. I dont think Smokie ever really caught on in the US, but you'll be glad to hear they hold a colossal cult status in our European neck of the woods and still get butts in seats whenever they come a-tourin' :-) I love them, in my mind they're the greatest pop band of all time - and that's coming from someone who's a heavy metal boy to the core :-D
