I spend good money on knives. I really wanted the Adamas, and I don't mind the price. However, the amount of money benchmade wants for the Adamas with that amount of blade play is absurd. That blade play makes that Adamas garbage. I can't justify throwing nearly $300 in the trash. No way. I've had my $120 recon 1 for 4 years. I've used the recon 1 to cut through metal cans, chop branches, baton, remove caps off beer bottles, smashed it on cement, and there is no blade play at all after all that abuse. And their aren't even metal liners on the recon 1. I thought the Adams was supposed to be a tank with those thick metal liners.

my mini adamas has the same fresh out of the sealed box. i figured that the lock-bar travels way too far, right to the end of the cutouts in the liners, leaving no space for self-adjustment. basically like a linerlock that has traveled all the way down to the other liner. everybody i know who owns this knife has the exact same problem, it's a flawed design.

Lock Rock on Benchmades is either the axis bar is maxed out to the forward position with no more room to move forward. When you look in from the top there should still be some gap left in the front. Secondly, is the stop pin. On my contego that is coated M4, the stop pin started to knock a spot in the coating allowing the blade to basically come up further. If the pin is just bent you can rotate it 180° and see if the lock up gets tighter. Like others said though BM will just fix it anyway. Their warranty is really good. If the bar is bottomed out and you don't want to send it down, you could dremel a little more room in the liners and scale but they probably won't fix it after that.

the auto is the way to go since it has the lock out/in safety switch

I want the action you have, but releasing any tension from the axis…I then get rock lock. I hope the knife gets smoother

The CRKT M16 03S is my “Holy” Knife...it’s been retired to the tool box for years but still kinda works.

Fixed blade Adamas for harder use.

You should return that the benchmaid

Use your lifetime warranty and send that back to BM so they can fix the lock for you.

Doesn’t Benchmade warrantee their knives?
