I used to drive for uber and lyft until nov 2022 when I stared picking up homeless people. Now I am working for pizza hut in san diego. $16.30hr, $0.57 for every mile round trip, average tip is $7 (99% of customers tip). Average $34/hour (everything included), flexible schedule.

I think you may make more as a Pizza delivery driver. I was waiting for my Door Dash order, and the Pizza delivery driver pulled out his cash of tips. He had about $80 in cash tips and his hourly wage

I had an airport trip that was supposed to take 45 minutes, but ended up taking twice as long, an hour and a half, due to traffic, and Uber refused to add to the fare. On top of that, the rider gave me a 1 star rating, and reported me to Uber, because as he was talking on the phone he said "this dude is making me late" to which I simply said, "that's not true." His flight was scheduled to take off 45 minutes from when I first picked him up. I could have picked him up in a helicopter and he still would have missed his flight.

driving for uber and Lyft means destroying you car, you are making money by selling your car piece by piece while you are making Uber and Lyft billions and any women can accuse of something without evidence and you'll be fired, then you must go and celebrate because you got fired and saved your car and your life. Lyft and Uber's greed is shocking and at the end of the day you'll be making about $6 an hour.

That's not true. Following the three P's (Patience, Pay, Position) should be the determining factor. Also, if decent quest is being offered shorter and thus lower paying rides are the way to go.

Haha. I’ve made 11.78 for one hour of my time! It’s insane because then we blame the customer or we start to get mad. Customers don’t want to see someone mad on their trip(s). Uber has to step up their game for the drivers!

I just stumbled across this video, but thanx for reminding me why I never want to drive for them again. Drivers just give your number to customers if u live in a small town. I stole all of Lyfts customers and within a month I had $1000 a week cash business

The worst is when the customer changes their destination after you accept the ride. Suddenly, the percentage you receive of the fare drops to the lowest. Not the percentage they enticed you to take the ride.

I drive this exact market and get dozens of these pings EVERY single time I am out! Acceptance hovering around 15% and steadily decreasing. Choose very strategically and ALWAYS stop new requests when on a trip to potentially improve odds wherever you land when the pax is dropped off.

This is the same message I got from Lyft after I complained about a 44 minutes trip paid only $16. The "Upfront Fare" is the weapon Lyft used to against the drivers, meaning that they can pay us anyway they like as long as we accepting it.

This happened to me for an hour and 20 minute trip. It was 130 going one way. The customer is going right back where I picked them up. Another 130 right? Not initially. Lyft tried to only pay me 20 dollars for the entire ride back! I was on them everyday in messages and they finally gave me a 100 dollar bonus

This is why I don't accept trips that are less than $5 per 10 minutes of my time. Also why I don't accept short trips. Most of the time those short trips you end up waiting for the passenger on average 3 minutes of more unpaid time. So 5 short trips per hour is 15 minutes of additional unpaid time.

I exclusively pick short trips, because a 12 minute trip for $9 bucks is a lot better than a 30 minute trip for $15. Uber typically doesn't pay all that better for long trips, and those long trips always take you away from surge zones. In my experience short trips that keep you within surge zones tend to be more profitable.

Yeah, yeah, $7.00 per hour is horrible to begin with! That alone is slavery, but we haven't even mentioned that this trip is 17.6 miles and it will cost the driver 60 cents per mile to run his car into the ground! So, 17.6 x 60¢ = about $10.50.... in vehicle cost alone! This is slavery coupled with highway robbery.... What a joke!

Before UBER, I use to always take a cab. The ride started at $5, depending were I was going the tip was $5 to $20. The cab charged by mileage. I always tipped the cab driver. This was 2000's. Paying $2.83 that is straight up greed and taking advantage.

I received the same message when I disputed a fare that I got when I had preferences set to "auto accept." I took the low fare ride, but also turned off "auto accept" after that and THEN... noticed that Uber is now putting a message on these low fare rides that now say, "This is a big tipper!" So Uber is now using their algorithm to track the riders who have a tip "pattern," and are now BRIBING drivers to take the low paying fares based on an algorithm produced by a rider that can change at any time... kind of like our acceptance rate or cancellation rate. IMO, this A.I. will eventually kill Uber because drivers are getting fed up with the games. Hardly any driver is loyal to one or the other app because of the games. Gotta be smarter than the algorithm to make ends meet. It's exhausting trying to communicate with support these days. They don't like to follow up and own a problem until it's fixed. They just want the A.I. to do their communicating. It will all eventually crumble. The more changes they make to the app, the worse it seems to get. A.I. does not care about riders or drivers, so we need to care about each other... until a demon with a knife attacks a 74 year old VET! F those "Community Guidelines." A.I. is never going to be held responsible for our personal safety. Neither is Uber/Lyft. We have to protect ourselves. Even with Uber eats I have my “more doors than dollars method” where no orders under 5$ are getting accepted anything Under that’s minimal 20 minutes of my time and that’s more doors I’m opening and closing than dollars so screw that. People gotta value their car more would you give your pal a ride down the street for 5$ I don’t think most of us would so I see no reason being out here taking orders for 2.80 and 3 to 4 bucks that’s honestly what you should be expecting for tips

I drove Lyft for the first time yesterday, using one of their EV rentals. 6 hours, 11 rides, $150. Thought I was doing pretty good. Then I get home and see the breakdown. ONE TIP. I always tip drivers, usually 20% plus. Then, after rental and fees broken down and averaged over the 7 days of the rental, I netted TWENTY DOLLARS. WTF? How can anyone make a living doing this?

I have one for you, concerning their absurd greed and terrible customer service. In 2018, I signed up to drive Uber in Denver. I made an appointment and went to one of their Greenlight places for my physical and car inspection. When I showed up, I was told they didn't take the payment method I brought so I had to drive all the way back home to get the correct payment method for the inspection and physical. When I returned, they did the inspection and physical, gave me my stickers and sent me on my way. When I got home there was a message from another employer and, long story short, I never drove for them. Fast forward to last week. I live in Florida now and signed up again. I needed a vehicle to drive and there was a 40.00 voucher on the UBER site to take an UBER to pick up the rental. I signed up for the voucher and when I got to the rental place, I was told the voucher wasn't good, so I had to pay the 47.00 trip fare out of my pocket. When I returned home, I called Uber to tell them what happened and the guy said to compensate me, he would add 40.00 to my earnings account - which he did. The problem came when I was about to go on my first drive trip, and I noticed that my +40.00 credit was now a -10.00 balance! I called Uber customer service and they said "it must be a glitch, I see no reason why you'd have a -10.00 balance. Call back in 24-48 hours if it hasn't been corrected." The allotted time passes, but the balance remains negative ten dollars. I called on Monday morning and spoke to 7 different people. The last of which, some guy named Johns, promised someone would call me back within 2 hours. Nothing! Called back Tuesday and spoke to Maria, Charles, Prince, Apple-who said she was a supervisor, and Ria and they're all saying the same thing.... that I had a 50,00 OUSTANDING BALANCE FROM 2018 because I never paid for my physical! Anyone who ever went to one of those things knows it's PAY FIRST, sit in the lobby until they call your name, THEN get your physical! I asked if it was common practice to give the physical BEFORE payment? Answer? No. She asked me if I had a record of having paid for the physical? (After 5 YEARS!) I asked if they had a record of having given me one? So, now, Uber has essentially STOLEN 40.00 dollars from me before I ever sat behind the wheel for them and I have no illusions that when I start driving, they'll find equally sleazy ways to steal more! I honestly think a worldwide drivers' strike is in order as they'll continue to sh*t on people as long as we bow to their BS. It'll only get worse.

Driving for UBER and Lyft is like Crying on a Grave without a Dead Body. If you think you can make money more than $6 an hour, you are wrong, you can never make more than $6 an hour after paying for fuel, tires, breaks, oil change and reducing you car value by adding mileage to it. throughing up will be inevitable and they will not pay you if your car gets damage, you'll discover their corrupted policy, they have $2500 deductible. Uber and Lyft drivers make billions for uber and Lyft while this drivers putting their lives in danger and endue broke.

Two things jump out immediately: 1. Driving 11 minutes to pick up a 4-minute trip is insane. Don't do it. 2. The driver did this to himself by accepting this terrible trip. Gotta be smart about which trips you take.

The thing is, is that bottom feeders take them, and keeps taking them, therefore telling the people whom put out these rides that they are acceptable, and keep sending out low paying crap, the thing is that fare is already been settled, Uber people don't take into consideration of time wasted yes at street lights, accident hold ups, rerouted routes because of blocked construction, and blah, blah, blah, I am so sick and tired of getting nowhere with these low paying offers that are not worth anyone's time except the bottom desperate feeders. What's worst is when you get the rider to their destination 2 minutes EARLIER than anticipated and see your earnings DROP!? Getting there a few minutes later isn't enough to increase your pay but getting there 2 minutes earlier is certainly significant enough to decrease your earnings!? I'm super sick of Uber AND Lyft!? #EVERY DRIVER SHOULD QUIT!

The federal tax deduction on mileage driven for business is $.58 per mile. That means what we make is barely enough to cover expenses according to the IRS.

I got an add-on for Uber eats, it paid $.80 for the base fair. Ridiculous. That’s why I don’t take the add on deliveries anymore. It’s a scam.

We should have taxi rates or similar. $3.00 booking, $2.00 a mile, $2.00 extra per person. 80% for the driver and 20% for the ride share company. Everyone is happy.

I remember taking someone on a 60-mile trip Uber paid me $2.47 and I told him that was wrong and they said he looked as something and they can assure me that I got paid correctly so I just asked him is there anyway they can refund the passenger back their money because I don't want it

The person that accepted this run should have never accepted a run for $2.87 there's just no way. The next thing is only take runs that pay you more in the price than the mileage shown a 14 mile run should pay you $14. Don't worry about your cancelation rate or your acceptance rate that's all b*******. Watch very closely to boost they take a $14 run shove it down to $8 at a $5 boost and it turns into a $13 run what happened to all that money? A $15 run with a $5 boost should pay $20 not 15. Up front pricing is stealing. Uber is not your friend never will be be wise in your decisions about runs that you accept . When you accept the run on your way to pick up the run turn off the phone go offline when it comes to the Uber when you drop off the run or before you drop off the run you go back online that way you don't get Request why you have somebody in the car. My 2 cents.

That's why I stopped driving during rush hour. Uber would pay per mile but not according to time being stuck in traffic. They do offer $2 boosts during those times but its still not worth it. Also if I accept a low fare and the customer isnt outside when I arrive, I text them, they say will be right out, and then I drive away and cancel. Uber needs to understand that our service is being affected because they are ripping us off. Ive been teying to jump ship by applying to be a medical courier or ANYTHING else.

That’s my neighborhood and I don’t accept those. I just go straight to Ohare and midway UberXL only and luckily we have 2 airports. Which I learned to do by following your advice.

What they do is give you an estimate of the fare and it's mostly lower then the estimated fare

Nobody should work for these ripoff companies. If the time increases, so should the fare and the pay. I would bet that they increased the fare to the customer and kept the additional money for themselves.

See what happens when you have a trip that is actually shorter than what was quoted. You bet Uber don't give you the quoted fare. They want it all ways, everything to benefit them and screw over the driver.

In Toronto, Canada it does not show how long the trip is or how much money will i get, or the location upfront. So I have no choice but to accept all rides. I dropped the passenger downtown which took 40 min and I got paid $ 18.78.

To check if you are making any money with Uber Car maintenance + insurance + gas = Federal government rate per mile =65.5 c Let’s say you drove 1000 miles per week ( total mileage start and end of your shift ) And you earn 750 Total 1099 compensation per week = 750 -(1000x65.5)= 99.50 Assuming that you Worked 30 hours to drive 1000 miles =99.50/30 This is your hourly salary 3.31 on 1099
