Holy God Earth...True form of earth. He's playable by cheats. Beware that as soon as he goes into burst mode, He'll spam one super after another. When he finishes a super, He'll IMMEDIATELY fire another one. And those supers made him invincible while they're going on. He has another super... Did I forget to mention that he can phase through projectiles?

Not too surprising that Justin liked SvG, since it's from IGS, the same studio that made Martial Masters. Personally, I really like this game, too, & Holy God Earth is up there with Justice from GG1 as one of my all-time favorite boss fights in fighting games, since he truly lives up to his name; it's like you're fighting a literal god. The funny thing is that the arcade version that Justin played is notoriously easy to cheese, especially if you use the Seal of Time mechanic (which slowly launches your foe into the air). Jadou, for example, can literally infinitely chain his fireball when in the corner, and the console ports on PS2 & PSP fixed a lot of the cheese, like having Jadou move forward a little every time he throws a fireball. Honestly, I'd love to see Idea Factory re-release SvG for modern hardware, especially since the old console ports are getting expensive now, but IF hasn't done anything with the IF Neverland franchise in a literal decade, at this point, sadly.

Wow, I did not expect "Spectral vs Generation" to ever get featured here. I noticed that it was getting a slight resurgence as of late, for whatever reason, but it's overall still too niche for most content creators to bother with. But yeah, oh boy, I get to explain this again. So essentially, "Spectral Vs Generation" is a crossover fighter between two IPs. But collectively, those two series are part of the same "Neverland" brand by Idea Factory. "Neverland" is a surprisingly massive yet relatively unknown franchise that spans all the way back to 1996 up until the last entry ("GoC: Pandora's Reflection" for PSP) released in I think 2012/2013. It is mostly made up by the "Spectral" series, which usually were standard grid-based SRPGs, and the "Generation of Chaos" series, which usually were these real-time army battles with SRPG elements. There have also been various spin-offs like this fighting game and a strategic card game on PSP called "Neverland Card Battles". And of course, they are all connected to each other so you'd see characters show up in both series. Like Hiro for example, the girl with the scythe, who is essentially the main character and mascot of the entire franchise. The series itself has also showed up in a couple of crossover games such as the infamous "Chaos Wars" (PS2) and "Cross Edge" (PS3), the latter of which includes "Darkstalkers" believe it or not. Yes, "Darkstalkers" and "Neverland" have some history together. So yeah, it's been around for a while. I honestly kind of miss it myself. They were never the most polished or high-budgeted of games but they really had their charms. Even to this day, they still have some rather unique aspects to them I've yet to see replicated in other games. There were a lot of entries, though only a fraction of them ever actually got released overseas. Idea Factory has since moved on from developing RPGs and kind of just makes Otome now. Very successful Otome but not really my kind of thing. Instead, their subsidiary, Compile Heart, have taken over the developing reigns. Their first couple of games, such as "Record of Agarest War", took heavy inspiration from "Neverland", to the point of outright reusing the same systems and enemies wholesale, but now they primarily are known for the "Hyperdimension Neptunia" series which itself has a lot of references to "Neverland" as well. The more you know...

Seeing Justin play these games makes me wonder how many unique fighting games are there?

Capcom was trying to catch up with GG but it was already to late. Holy God Earth Japanese KyoKamiOni= Great God Demon = Lucifer It is a play off of Justice from GG and a boss from NEO GEO game call Shin Oh Ken ( Ragnarok ) last boss is named Lucifer.

Dang, I heard of this game before but always thought it was an SRPG like Super Robot Wars, not a hidden fighter! It’s neat to see how the character sprites are Guilty Gear X-quality but combined with VFX in the Darkstalkers/early VS series style. Gotta look up who the dev was and find out what they’ve been up to now. Thanks for showcasing it and bringing it to public attention, Justin!

Holy crap lol I played the 360 game called spectral force which had these characters but in rpg form. I never knew it was a fighting game before lol. Pretty sweet, I'd suggest the rpg too.

SvG's discord is amazing. This game is really cool and underrated, I play Earth, the hardest character in the game who's also a grappler (I know hard and grappler is an oxymoron, don't worry)

Incredible artwork in this game. The pixel rendering is rich and masterful in the stages and the characters are quite unique. Just how many of these lesser-known gems did Capcom and SNK make? That boss at the end, great character design on him. Looks pretty hard to beat if he gave ol' Justin so much trouble, eh?

It feels to me like the people that designed Under Night In Birth definitely took some cues from this game. Erile is Orie Mayura is Vatista Jadou is Byakuya Hiro is Gordeau Wells is Nanase Roze is Wagner And then some characters are from other games, like Orochimaru is clearly Haohmaru.

Justin I initially thought you will go for the PSP version since that one had an english release hahahaha xD This game served as my entry to the whole Idea Factory Neverland series... Majority of which are JP only War Simulators (buying and selling stuff, attacking nearby countries, sending negotiators to annex or forge alliances, dealing with betrayals, a choice to execute recruit or let go of a conquered country officials ). I played one of the NDS entries (Spectral Force Genesis) which was localized, it was long and very hard due to only being able to attack for about 4x a year. Majority of your time is spent on managing resources and setting your defenses than the actual attacks. Then there are conditions for the true ending.. yeaaaah that would be fun. As for the other games, I enjoy the tactical RPGs (Spectral Souls, Blazing Souls, Generation of Chaos) of the series and there was even an action/horror (Neverland Senki Zero or Realm of the Dead for the UK localization) and a card game (Neverland Card Battles). There's also anime (Spectral Force), which more or less a promotional tool for the PS1 era entries due to how short it is.
