Today we will take a look at Windows 11 X-Lite Neon Rapture 22H2 build. Its a super lightweight version of Windows 11 with some cool themes.
Warning: I would not recommend downloading this because of the download links he has used.
Remember: You use this Windows 11 build at your own risk. This is NOT an official release from Microsoft.
Important: To be clear, this is just a review of someone's Windows build, my advise is still the same, never use someone else's builds on your main PC, always create your own if you want Windows 11 Lite or use official Windows 10 LTSC.

No, I would never used a custom ISO that someone created, if I want a lite version of Windows 11, I would do it myself.

Thanks for the fantastic review Britec09! I should mention, this build is fully updatable, by manual or automatic updates, and it won't wreck any tweaks or settings that are in place. The only thing that the user will have to do after an update, is re-install the Theme patcher, as the theme files revert to unpatched versions after updating, and the build would look, and act the same as before the updates. The updates are paused mostly to offer the user more control, and a choice whether to use auto updates, or not. As for the links, I understand your point of view, and have been considering changing them, and you have helped persuade me to consider it more strongly. Thanks for this video, Britec! I installed X-Lite on my oldest computer (and dual-booted it with Ubuntu). I was so pleased with the results that I did the same to my other two computers. No more Edge! No more Bloat!

Like you said, as long as you're not mingling personal stuff with these custom builds you should be fine. I'd go a bit further by putting these builds behind a VM or on a separate disposable PC entirely, with the internet connectivity completely disabled (i.e. wifi card removed). Unless you're heavy into online gaming, playing completely offline shouldn't be an issue for anyone.

Looks nice but the download links and the option to remove Windows Defender are big no nos for me. You still need Windows Defender for when you're either upgrading your current anti virus software or switching to a completely different one. For me personally I would rather just grab a custom theme for Windows 11 that does the same thing.

Windows Defender isn't removed, but completely disabled in the Defender Off build. Because you're 100% right, if removed, it will cause major issues during updates. This way, you can update without issue, even using the Defender Off Build choice.

Do not install modified ISO of an operating system. You have no idea what code they have installed. You can modify and create your own iso from an original.

Microsoft should release a version call "we won't screw with your settings" because that's probably what advance users been asking a decade. I would dare to take a lite version if that means no updates rolling back a system config that's working perfectly already, like who cares about security when Microsoft itself screw things with updates without permission..

Brian, many thanks for this and other videos that you produce. I've started the video several times to try to get the gist of it. I was keen to use this version of windows on my Asus T101 which only has 2GB ram and 30GB hdd. However, after your final comments near the end of the video re links etc., I have to give it a down thumb. 😎

BUG - Windows 11 - Even when set to NEVER for shutting down or going into sleep mode, Windows often just blanks out. Shuts down the screen and when mouse is moved, turns the screen on but will not recover from sleep / hibernation mode. Fresh install on a 5800X 3D with an EVGA 3080. I have tried everything to keep it from doing this. It does it more often when a game screen is loaded or when a game launcher is open but the game has not been started. Very annoying.

Please note that all download links are now direct Mediafire links. Very clean. Windows X-Lite is certainly better than Ghost Spectre or Tiny. I use the Win 10 LTSC version on an external SSD, very good performance and minimal bloat.

Followed the link provided and it constantly complained about add blockers even though I don't run them in virtual machine. After add and more adds, it never loaded, just gave you more junk pages. After I exit I ran malware bytes and found 7 viruses. Don't use this site - EVER. Britec, if you have a good program to share, share it from your own site. I'm sure nobody would have a reason to restrict this since it lightens their load on them. Bad-Bad-BAD....

@@Britec09 That makes sense. However, as you've rightly pointed out, removing parts of the OS can cause compatibility issues with updates. LTSC, is indeed a better option.

For official works and study related works original window is my choice , I once update it fully and then I never do a update( many issues comes with new update)I make a restore point and I am tension free . Give me your suggestion.

It looks like they are using a mix of icons from various sources, I recognize most of the icons from a Linux theme called "Candy Icons" (they might all be, not sure) Btw just scanning with an AV (or multiple even) won't necessarily find malware, there are many software tricks to bypass antimalware tools.

So not related at all to this video but I have Bit Defender antivirus and I noticed that for the last 2-3 weeks now that it is really slowing down the loading of my external drives. To the point where when i try to open a folder it takes almost 5 minutes, I go to task manager and my CPU usage is at 100%, disk usage at 11% and Bit Defender is at the top of the list showing it using almost 50% of my CPU. I disable Bit Defender and my external drives work fine and my CPU usage is back to normal at around 3% usage. Have you ever heard of this happening with Bit Defender?

I have 2 REALLY old laptops.. one came with Windows 8.0 pre-installed, the other 8.1 So I'm talking 10+ years here. The original Windows 8 drivers work without issue for me on those laptops, with Windows 11 21H2, and 22H2 installed - Hope this info helps.

I know you did a virus scan from within the os, but while using rufus to make the usb, defender flagged this with a trojan. file: D:\ProgramData\PhoenixOS\0ptional\Pause Automatic Updates\Pause Auto Updates Until 2099 (Windows X-Lite).exe

This is a review of a custom windows 11 lite operating system. My advise is still the same, never use on your main pc, always use official Microsoft builds. If you watch my content on a regular basis, you would know this. Also not link has been shared in video description and also some other info which I just answered here is in their. Hope this helps. I like this Windows 11 Lite a lot, but that does not mean I would use it on my main pc. Think of it this way, people review cars, they don't like them all, but they still review them.

Not sure what to make of this really....great builds but it seems the creator wants to make some cash out of it in a undesirable way with all those iffy pop-ups. Thinking about it, is the creator of these builds going to be happy if someone with a much better idea of what's wrong & right goes about hosting it elsewhere ?

Hi Brian, Is it legal to download this onto your PC and do you still need a license key from Microsoft anyway? I need to be always up to date . I like parts of this look though and it give a 21st century look, and it appealed to me initially because on my Dell laptop and Lenovo desktop in the update section MS says both machines `are not compatible with Win 11`, but I do banking from my desktop and so need that at least to always be up to date?? Can I wish you a very Happy Easter?

I genuinely have no idea what this is then, is it intended for gamers? I only watched it because Microsoft are saying my 4 year old Dell laptop and 6 year old desktop both of which I've spent loads of money upgrading over the years `are not compatible with Windows 11`. Therefore I`m interested in finding a way to upgrade to Win 11. BTW I consider myself pretty computer literate, but I dont think I`d be able to do something like build a PC or change registry entries etc, so that perhaps explains my level of computer literacy!. @@stevejarvis186 My point about these versions is that they actively encourage you NOT to update. Updates are mainly for security. I use Win 11, but if I was in your position because of your tech, I'd switch to a Linux distro. There are lots of informative videos here about different distro's.

@@stevejarvis186 If you're that worried about it I would stay with 10 and fully patched systems. I know it's bs that anything older than about 3 years can't natively run 11 but that's how it is. One you start using these diy iso's you are pretty much compromising all your security, even though the builder seems legit and Brian certainly knows his stuff. As BD4 said, maybe look into linux, upgrade your pc's or stay on 10. Maybe dual boot and have this version for gaming or whatever and use 10 for banking

WARNING: Installing these versions of Windows is at your own risk. Britec09 and the creator of these versions of windows cannot be helt responsible for anything, use these versions of Windows is fully at your own risk. Windows updates has been paused/disabled because Windows Updates will break things like the theme and force settings to be turned on where these where turned off. After all a good video but like i sad use it at your own risk.

That's the sweet thing about our builds, they're designed to not break, even after updating the OS Build. Full support for auto, or manual updates, paused merely to give you more control, and the choice whether to use auto updates or not, instead of being forced to. Our builds are aimed to provide the end user more control, and freedom of choice. - Also, all the download links on our website have been changed, sorry for the issues the old links gave.
