In 1996 as a Marine stationed in Okinawa I was 18. Homesick and had my snes with me and a little game called Chrono Trigger took my mind off of things. In 2006 in Iraq Warcraft III. Video games are a great escape. All my life they have been there. I get it!! Great Video

I totally understand gaming as an outlet for adults. I’m 32 and have been a gamer most of my life. I love my real life, but there is something about the escapism of a good Nintendo game.

Thanks for an amazing story! Im 30 now & have always enjoyed gaming in my life. Gaming has gotten me out of some low points of my life which i will never take for granted. Metroid Dread is a fantastic game and is my favorite in the series along with metroid fusion & Prime Remastered..

For me, it was Dragon Quest 11. I was never a huge dragon quest fan, but I always like Dragon Warrior on the NES. I was just SO overwhelmed by how much care, attention to detail and love was poured into the game. The graphics are perfect, the scenery is amazing, the story has some genuinely amazing moments, and it reignited my interest in going back and taking time for myself to enjoy some downtime. I was working 92.5 hours a week, and after this I saw the value in dropping down to about 60+ The game helped me realize how much of my life was just work.

Love that story. I still haven’t played dragon quest 11 one of my all-time favorites is Dragon Warrior 1. And on the show, I’m about to introduce my son to the dragon warrior in dragon quest series.

I am 44. I started playing video games at the age of 5 on Atari, then on the NES. At the age of 21, I decided to travel around the world so I quit gaming, as there were not much for a portable console.... At the age of 35 I met a girl and his boy, he was 6 and he had a Wii. I saw Zelda Twilight Princess and I was like: hoooo, a Zelda game! This is the game that brought me back at gaming! After a 15 years gaming break, I'm back!

Dread is an absolute masterpiece! it's the reason I got a Switch, I have played many times and don't get tired. It is in fact a great game to play for a small time, keep going with life and then come back when you find time. It flows and have rhythm and it's beautiful.

Earlier this year, my mom passed away from cancer, and my wife was struck with GBD and ADEM. I was dealing with both things at the same time, and I was mentally in a terrible place. Gaming was one of the things that got me through it. It's the best therapy there is.

Thank you for sharing and for your vulnerability and transparency.Unfortunately, I know how easy it is to be consumed by work and lose focus on what is truly important in life. I've been gaming for as long as I can remember as a form of escapism and it recently helped me regain a healthy work/life balance as the signs of a massive burnout were on the horizon.

Metroid Dread is the game that made me consider getting the Switch after being away from Nintendo since the Wii. I didn’t even look into the Switch up until that point. Now I’m hooked with the system. Great video!

Woaw. I Thought during the whole video that you had more than 500k subscribers, as the production is perfect. I loved the story, thank you for telling it. It was a pleasure to listen to you during this video, and what a testimony it was. You definitely gained a subscriber. It made me reflect on the Firewatch game. I played it during a school year that was really tough: I didn't enjoyed going to school, all my friends started going out without me and removing me from the group, and my girlfriend dumped me. I was considering to end it, when I discovered that game. It really shined, and gave me hope for the future. It's probably because of it that i'm still here today. Again, thanks for the quality content !

I work in healthcare, and was working seven days a week, often fifteen hour days. I did this for years. Gaming and playing music, similarly ‘saved my life’. The game that pulled me back in, was Batman: Arkham Asylum. To this day, it is the only game where I found every single little collectible. BTW it has been on my mind for years, to learn how to play the Metroid theme on guitar and synth. I feel like it could be a vehicle for a killer jam. I think it is time to do that.

I love this. What a great video and you explain things so well and how you were. Thank you for sharing. For me, the game to get me hooked like possibly never before was Tetris Effect Connected. If I recommend a game to anyone, it's this. Truly a brilliant refinement on the original and a brilliant experience. This gave me that 'one more play' vibes I had all those years ago as a kid (I'm 41) now. I implore you to try it, it's on the switch and plays so well on it. I completed it on its hardeset level and wanted to tell the world, I'm actually quite good at tetris! 😂. It also really focuses the mind and relaxes. You get in the zone. I wish I could play it afresh all over again.

My last childhood gaming experience was A Link to the Past, and after putting gaming aside for decades came back at the end of the Wii cycle to try Twilight Princess. I picked up gaming again after moving to a new city for a job and working way too much. Put it down again after that, and came back for Breath of the Wild when the Switch came out. All of these games helped out during stressful times. I appreciate you story!

Thank you for sharing, Clayton! Metroid is one of a kind and my favourite series. Metroid games are what made me buy consoles. Then I used them to play Zelda as well but Metroid is number one. It perfected atmosphere and mood, which is perfect for losing yourself in the feel of the world

Thanks for sharing. Dread was a great game. I myself would get into Mario Odyssey when feeling down. I don't know...in my opinion, there's this positivity about Mario games that replaces bad feelings. Bu again, Metroid Dread was GOOD!

Can definitely relate to you a bit here. Got out of video games for awhile, and then with Covid, not being able to see either grandparent before they died etc, it was horrible. Rediscovering video games and Jesus got me thru the pandemic. For me, the game was Persona 5 Royal
