Bears are very intelligent creatures; the Kodiak bear is next to the Polar bear in size and strength, Kodiak bears have been known to excide 10 feet standing up on their hind legs, there pretty well matched with the polar bear, however Polar bears overheat quickly their conditioned to survive in frozen subzero temperatures, each have their own strengths overall. I dream of being so fortunate, bears can to a limited degree domesticated, in the broadest sense, remember these beautiful animals can kill other bears, particularly if their starving, male bears have killed and eaten young bear cubs, so the Sow-Mother bears have to really be on top of their game looking after their baby cubs. Still bears have to be understood, they're not canines.

@latinoislander50163 жыл бұрын
He reminds me of Steve Irwin interacting with his crocs. He doesn't treat the bear like a pet or circus beast that he can command, you can tell he is aware that he's playing by the bears rules. You can also tell he doesn't fully trust Leo, knowing that what might be playful to the bear would be injurious or fatal to him. He doesn't let the play go too far and is very careful about where he places his hands. Very respectful with the bear, yet fun, enjoyable as well, which is important to animals in confinement.
@annabanananaaaa3 жыл бұрын
Latino Islander Yes, I noticed the same. These people treat the animals with the love and respect that makes these animals love and respect them back. I think that’s the key to a cross-species relationship - to accept the other creature as what it is. These people have obviously studied bears and know how to take care of them in a manner that creates a peaceful relationship with the animals. I’m fascinated and have a lot of respect for them. It takes a huge heart to overcome your own ego to learn to communicate with other species! A lot of people don’t realise this but it happens a lot when humans interact with animals - they treat them like humans and then they are confused why the animal develops behavioural problems. It happens with a lot of dog owners who just don’t realise that they need to learn the dog’s way to communicate.

Interacting with wild animals didn't work out that well in the end for Steve Irwin though

@@H-Zazoo true. Always a risk when dealing with wild animals. Still, he died doing what he loved.
@stevenscummy14583 жыл бұрын
Only difference is Steve would never be able to go pet a huge crocodile that wasn't restrained, bears are mammals and have those mammal-dog like instincts and can be mostly raised and treated like your friend, crocs on the other hand are cold blooded killers, both bears and crocs are my favorite animals too. There was one guy who actually had a crocodile friend in a south america country though, it actually accepted him and never hurt him, he would swim with it and everything. But the species plays a part, a saltwater or nile crocodile is definitely not something you could go make friends with. Although crocs of course are a bit intelligent and may have certain behavioral traits toward someone who raises them they're not something to play with
