Peer review is the opposite of trust. Any person, no matter their job, becomes more untrustworthy the more often they insist that they are trustworthy. Time constraints force you to trust some things, but you should see that as a weakness, not as an acceptable part of the scientific method. That's why good scientists are never sure of anything. They speak of being 99% sure of their results as if they fully expect to be proven wrong tomorrow. You are absolutely NOT supposed to trust the science. Especially if you are a scientist. Instead of saying "Trusting the science is a huge part of doing science" I'd say "Making mistakes is a huge part of doing science." There is no trust involved, just the practical understanding that it will take too long to confirm everyone else's results. So you move forward knowing that *something* in your experiment is probably wrong, but you don't know what yet.

yes, but questioning results is literally the process of science if me questioning result offends you, you're not a scientist you're a cultist. never "trust the science" you verify the science

@@kylejohns2288 absolutely you're correct. But with that said, you do not have the time nor resources to duplicate every experiment whose results you may need to use in your own research. We do trust what other scientists have done, because we trust that other scientists have already questioned their theories and repeated their experiments.
