I… cannot describe the visceral reaction I had of, like, apprehension, panic, concern, etc. when Amy came into the room while Mark was getting really frustrated with the game because I’m used to people in my family lashing out and snapping at me when they’re in the middle of something and they’re frustrated with it and I just so happened to approach them about something completely unrelated at the wrong time-when Mark immediately just… calmed down long enough to accept food from Amy and thank her for bringing it to him, I honestly just blanked out for a second because I just… had no IDEA how to react to that. I was stunned. My internal monologue just went like, “OH NO, oh shit, Amy’s coming into the room and Mark’s upset, he’s gonna yell-wait, he… he didn’t? Mark didn’t yell. As upset and frustrated as he was about the game in that moment, he just… set it aside and didn’t start yelling at Amy because he was mad. …Holy crap, I didn’t think that was a thing that people could, like, actually do.” I was SO immensely relieved when he didn’t flip out, and I’m… I just… I’m so beyond happy that Mark just has the maturity and decency to set his frustration aside long enough to not take it out on the people around him. Like, I know it really doesn’t sound that monumental, but for someone who’s used to getting yelled at just for being in the wrong place at the wrong time, watching Mark NOT do that is kind of huge for me. Bless him.
