The Toronto Maple LEafs drop game 1 against the Boston Bruins 5-1 in an embarrassing performance and now the pressure is on players like Mitch Marner, Auston Matthews and John Tavares to perform along with William Nylander to try and return to the lineup as soon as possible otherwise it's going to be tough to come back.

As a Canucks Fan and hockey Fan in general, I feel for you. I honestly want the Leafs to do well (especially against the Bruins) But for me getting rid of Dubas only and not Keefe was a bad move, and I am not hyped about Treliving either (not like his former team does so well either...) But maybe they can at least put up a fight ? Was only Game 1 so there is still time to give a fk... I wish the best for the Leafs, hopefully they win at least the home games!

Marner plays too small. Its very evident in the playoffs. He has not much of an impact at all. Leafs need to dump this guy's salary. He's vastly overpaid. And not worth the investment

We have got to stop giving out these outrageous contracts when none of these guys have earned it come playoff hockey. What do they care? They get paid to lose, early vacation, play Fortnite, and go golfing. I won't be surprised if Bruins sweep these overpaid, little shits. Blow up this team, start over, and get guys that actually want to win. Two lines out of four showed up to play, and that ain't good enough.

I have said this for years. There's no excuse to pay anyone on the Leafs team that much money. They've done nothing to prove they're worth that. I remember for years people were up in arms about Kane and Towes contracts. But they won 3 cups.

I don't blame the players. I blame the couch. This Domi experiment has been going on for a month or more. It is a failure. Roberson has had, what a 1/3 of the ice time this season and is out scoring Domi. Domi is not NHL material. Yes he can skate but he doesn't have a hockey brain. He makes bad decisions almost all the time. Yes he got some assists with Mathews. My cat could get assists playing with Mathews. It is time to load up the top two lines and let the other two lines do what they do. They hustle, cause chaos on the ice and pop in a few goals. The idea of throwing Domi out on the ice during critical moments is just crazy. This is a huge coaching error. Get this line up back where it should be and let Domi attend the games in the press box.

That first goal happened because Reaves thought he was going to go after the Big Rig Pat Maroon and it cost him. Maroon ended up tying up Reaves and Edmundson along the boards and digging the puck out at the same time, sending Boqvist and Beecher on the 2 on 1 opportunity for the score by Beecher. Maroon is already making a difference for the Bruins. He got the crowd amped up when he dumped Liljegren into the Bruins bench with a nice hit. The guy just knows how to win. Everyone knows he's a tough guy. But as his coach Montgomery said recently "When he's on the ice, his ability to hang onto pucks, his ability to make plays, I think it's incredibly underrated”.

You're so right. There's two way to beat Boston in my opinion. Pure skill or absolute team toughness. We know team toughness is just not in Maple Leafs' DNA. Hence, choosing Reaves over Lafferty just shows that Sheldon Keefe has the wrong impression about his team; and maybe that he's not a good coach for a uber offensive Toronto roster. Cheers

Domi seemed to be too concerned with trying to irritate marchand cuz right from get go b4 1st puck drop Domi cross checked and slashed marchand and he slashed marchy again later in game and got called for it and I'm sure he probably slashed him a bunch of times that weren't called!? As a Bruins fan tho I don't mind Domi getting sidetracked trying to go after Marchy cuz he'll just keep getting penalties!? Great game by Bruins!! Absolutely loved it!!? They've gotta keep it rolling and do same thing in next 3 games!!?? GO BRUINS!!!!!!

The first 3 minutes of the game showed amazing promise for the Leafs. They had some amazing pressure for most of that time in the offensive zone. After that 3 minutes though? I don’t know what the hell happened. They just gave up. 🤦🏻

The Leafs have needed a#1 goalie for years, and a top defenseman; management has ignored these needs. Anyone who thought things were going to be different is dreaming. Sweep out the trash in the front office, and the complacent owners are too busy counting the cash to care. Matthews is a great goal-scorer, but he's a WIMP, just like Marner, JT, and Nylander. Get rid of them all.

i am not a leaf fan but all my life i have cheered for any Canadian team in the playoffs. As usual as i have feared the defence is just not tough enough for the playoffs. Yes leaf's can scored in the regular season when no one checks and no one cover your best player. But mostly Leaf's goaltender is just not good enough with such a weak defence. When I did my brackets, they were the only team I wrote to be swept because they're the Toronto, Maple Leafs and they have a history. I'm sorry I do have Florida and Vancouver in the final. But I have Florida winning because Canadian teams don't seem to win the cup. I do feel bad for their fanbase though.

Too be honest Bruins had a bad game too. Other than their powerplays. But a lot of 5 on 5 was dominated by the leafs hence having 12 more shots. goaltending for bruins kept this thing far from close as well

Not expecting much in the playoffs as was demonstrated tonight. I was born in 1953. I am looking forward to the start of the season in October and the moves that are made in the summer to make the team capable of winning a Stanley Cup. Does any know if Tavares contract is up July 1st this year? Marner do you sign him before July 1st with a movement clause and trade him or let him walk?

First off they only had a day off and did you guys watched the game we out hit Boston outshot Boston but you all forget we lost game 1 last year against Tampa 7-3 4 goal difference same thing this year tsn Sportsnet actually pro stats said this game was one of the best playoffs games that the leafs played n the last decade but ehh you guys keep hateing on nothing
