Showing the process to sanitize your equipment is actually a really positive selling point. I don't buy makeup or lip gloss but I do appreciate a small company that takes their consumers health so seriously.

@@visassess8607 she doesn't really show if there is a sanitizer solution but it is common practice that as long as the water is above a certain temp and you actually soak pieces in said hot water for a period of time it takes care of said sanitation needs. 🤷 Some things you just can't sanitize with chemicals. Got enough dawn dish soap to kill a pond full of tadpoles though I give her that.

@sk they have been around since at least 2012 and are commonly found in dollar stores & hardware shops everywhere in US. they work good and are very cheap. also the company was on the TV show shark tank. on top of all that, the sponge also has a smiley face cut into it.

if you use a steam cleaner. the cleaning process will be 100% more faster and effecient. not to mention more sanitary. hot steam will easily dissolve oils and blow out debris from the pressure not to mention sanitize your equipment in the process AND will dry quicker because of the heat generated. make sure to use distilled water. (you will also use less water this way)

I can understand why you don't scrape as much as possible to add to a batch, 1.it may have been contaminated by the removal process, 2.I don't think a lot of people would want the last scraped remnants of a batch, and 3. Unless you make two batches of the same product, one after another, it's very necessary to clean it out to not contaminate either product.

If y’all are concerned about trace amounts of soap in lip gloss, here’s a shocker: SLS (or sodium lauryl sulfate) is one of the ingredients of Betty Crocker’s Angel Food Cake mix. It’s also a chemical surfactant used in everything from lip balms, to toothpaste, to teeth whiteners. Miss Betty calls it her whipping aide.

@@comfortogunyemi9254 I would read the MSDS of Sodium Lauryl Sulfate and decide for yourself if you want to eat it, and in those amounts. This is just my personal opinion on the matter. I used to work with that stuff everyday and would wear a mask and run an air purifier while I was using it. I don’t feel particularly comfortable eating it myself, but maybe others would. I was just curious why it bubbled up like a bath bomb the second I added the smallest amount of water and looked into it, lol. I think the internet is ridiculous though, it is such a small amount of SOAP in your lipgloss that you don’t eat it would be literally unquantifiable, but some people are essentially eating its cousin in their cake happily. 😂

@@thdoggo1 that the msds tells you to wear a mask, is because they always say that when you are working with something that is a very very fine powder that can be irritating. it probably is not super dangerous. you don't need a lot of surfactant in formulations at all. way less than a percent. it's weird that it's in there though

I'd recommend wearing a simple disposable glove while cleaning your equipment. You don't want skin flakes or nail chips to accidentally remain. Apply food grade level precautions.

I come to defend you girl. Someone who think small businesses are less sanitary than massive production business are dummies. Because big machine actually more hard to clean and need a lot of effort. They do use full factory cloth when they run the business, but still human are human we are not perfect when we working. And imagine to put quality control over 100kg of product must be more difficult than keep quality control on 10kg of product, it is logic. And my mom run small business too, don't worry we just deal with some stigma and placebo effect. Not all of them bad, but as long as we have quality standard and keep into it, we are in the same level of quality.

I used to be a machine tech for a makeup manufacturing company. Your cleaning looks good. I would add a sanitation step with a dishwasher or in boiling water if you have a pot big enough. After that thoroughly spray all pieces of your machine with 99% isopropyl alcohol to ensure sanitization.

You could always adopt the Dum Dum sucker model. Basically they have figured out how much product it takes to flush the machines and sell everything in between one batch and another as the Mystery flavor. They win by not having to shut down any of the processing line between flavors and still make product they can sell.

I would love to actually try and see how your lip gloss is, but unfortunately I’m not risking for me to get Perry Oral Dermatitis once again. I tried lip gloss once when I was about 6 years old, and caught the illness the next day. (Perry Oral Dermatitis is not contagious or severe, it is just annoying and will take time to heal.) But I hope the business is going well and I do wish to try your lip gloss eventually.
