As a rap line biased carat, I totally agree! Tho I love the improvement of their singing voices from 2015 til now, I'd like to hear a rap-heavy song from them again 'cause they are so underrated in that field.

It's interesting that Ash is your fave because it's at the bottom of many Carats' lists whereas Don Quixote, Shadow and March are on the top. I think Carats tend to be "soft"(-er) stans since Seventeen specializes in bright, uplifting and comforting music.

@@miaisfine Yup. As I said, lots of Carats fall in love with Seventeen for their brighter songs (like Pretty U), their funky songs (Left&Right) or their emotional ones (Don't Wanna Cry). Seventeen doesn't really give off an edgy/hardcore energy in general, they're like the "good boys" of Kpop except they're also chaotic and funny af. They're basically the supportive and sweet friend group that will make you laugh when you're down. They have some harder songs in their discography (mostly bsides) but it's not their main vibe.

I think another reason for that is the heavy use of autotune which many carats aren't in favor of yet. It might be because of its initial reputation which is a tool to help singers sound better(?) which we know that SVT doesn't really need. But people just need to be more open to the fact that nowadays, autotune has become an artistic choice, and it definitely is Vernon's, e.g. GAM3 BO1. I personally love Ash tho, esp Vernon's verse.

Ash is my fav too, which is surprising bc I usually don't like autotune (I had to relisten to Hot about 10 times to actually vibe with it welp) but Ash just went right up to the top of the list on first listen. Idk I just love the vibe of the song

Ash gives off 4th gen vibes which I noticed isn't Carat's cup of tea in general. Svt's sound is very unique, fresh and often a bit pop rock-ish with emphasis on vocals. Songs like Hot and Ash are a bit of an oddity lol. But even though they're more on the hard concept side that's trendy right now they still feel Svt, it's hard to lose that with Bumzu and Woozi still being the main producers

Don Quixote is my favorite song out of the album following Hot and March. Ash I really like too. Honestly, this is the first album I think ever in Kpop where I’ve liked every song because most groups tend to have one or two songs that throw me off.

'Bout You' reminded me of Jackson 5 with a trap beat, so I was thinking along the same lines as you. I also agree with Ash as my fave track. I think the beat and their delivery was bad ass and the lyrics were very intriguing. Especially Vernon's verse.

But naur I'm the same way I like bright upbeat songs, I have a pure dislike for slow songs/ballads, there's only some slow songs that I like and it has to be done correctly like it can't drag it still has to have a beat for me to consider it for what it is. But I think you would LOVE the "Your Choice" album, upbeat and groovy the entire album, probably their best one and the title track was Ready to Love ! ❤️❤️ 29:13 i think that's what makes or breaks it for me is if the singers can SING. Like ppl just do a slow song but if it isn't GIVING something then its just a waste of a song but like this is my first time listening to it all the way through w you bc I horrendously underestimated them?!?/? which I never do i just hate slow songs that much but I WAS NOT DISAPPOINTED SEVENTEEN! Yall ate, I would hear this song in a kdrama ofc, i cant listen to it ALL the time but I acknowledge they did their thing!

btw almost all albums have unit songs (hiphop, vocal and performance) but all songs on this album are ot13 [maybe bc jeonghan and s.coups have to enlist soon so they won’t be ot13 for a while]

Not liking a song or not vibing to it doesn't make my music taste weird, at least i don't think so. I'm sure there are songs out there that you don't really like as well. Doesn't make the song bad, it just doesn't fit your style of music right?
