Metal isn’t that bad for lightning port cleaning. Since the pins are flat its very hard to damage them. If you really need to use metal just remember to be careful.

You can use metal. We use a metal watch link remover. It’s the best tool for it. The danger is you can break the pins if you’re heavy handed. But bridging the contacts won’t do any harm, they’re actually designed that way Have a look at the tip of your charging cable, it’s metal and it bridges the connections every time you put the charger in at first until it’s in its place properly, then it just makes contact with each pin.

Tip: Be careful with toothpicks if you use them because if you go hard on it, it can break in the charging port and it’s hard to get it out.

Metal in a charging port is fine. It’s super low voltage and current, the protection circuitry wouldn’t let anything happen, and if the phone is powered off, there will be no power at the port at all.

@@jolwasitz The connector “teeth” (I forgot what they were called, it’s like 6 in the morning) are actually extremely well made. I tested this a while back on an iPhone 6 (after corroding the terminals with water, oops). I scraped the hell out of the charging port with a small metal screwdriver and nothing, started worked just fine. Can imagine newer phones are even better. Obviously though normal people would be careful and not go jabbing at it

Metal is OK as long as you ensure there's no way you'll short it on contact. Working as a computer technician at a recycling place, I see lots of loose screws within laptops and if you don't check, you fry it

Metal will not harm most modern smartphones. It would be foolish of apple to not implement safeguards to prevent damage in the event of a short circuit

Why would they do that, they would be missing out on money if they did not get to replace iphones with a dead tristar chip cuz of someone cleaning it with metal

@@momfiethehunter504 well because they do it to protect the phone from voltage spikes like they do to prevent a USB killer from killing there MacBook too, it only kills the charging port but for the price you pay for crapple I'd want a repair not a new bloody phone every time it goes wrong or gets a cracked screen, these guys save customers a ton of money and crapple hate that :)

Metal is fine as long as you know where the tiny metal pins are. I use a needle and clean every couple of months. Never had a problem. Works perfectly.

yeah but most people on KZfaq/tik tok don't know what they're doing is the point. just because I'm experienced and confident using metal tools on power circuits with little/no insulation doesn't mean your average youtube rando shoukd even think about attempting it. if you're a pro, you can make your own judgement, if you're not, maybe you should follow advice

I thought it was ever seven years (all organs, not sure if the skeleton has the same "lifespan", but it definitely depends on diseases, how/what you eat, your age etc as well for the skeleton/bones - that much I remember :))
