🇴🇲SALALAH, OMAN - Living in a villa in Oman: who would have thought it? Today I'm showing you the inside of the house where I lived alone some time ago. At first I couldn't sleep: the house was huge and I could hear the wind whistling at night and I feared there were jinn, spirits, as they are called around here. Then I calmed down: Salalah is a super safe city and you can even sleep with the door open. And there were no spirits, by the way. Welcome!

WHO AM I?
In 1999 I volunteered in an orphanage in Kenya and it changed my life. I then worked in Albania with unprivileged girls and kids for 3 years. I came back to Italy and started teaching at primary school but I wasn't happy.
So in 2010 I took the decision to follow my passion, not my pension. I first volunteered in Cambodia for a year, then opened a blog and travelled around South East Asia, China, Iran and Oman, always showing the lives of real locals, away from the tourist spots.
My goal - my mission in life - has always been to inspire people to be brave, follow their passion, open their minds and discover the kindness of other people and cultures.

Oman crime rate & statistics for 2022 was 0.00, a 100% decline from 2021. Oman crime rate & statistics for 2021 was 0.24, a 21.03% decline from 2020. Crime of any kind is strictly punishable in Oman. I’ve never felt so safe like in Oman 🇴🇲

I lived in Oman for 10 years and people are very kind and they help each other and I call it my second home. It's really safe for everyone i did not have any problem in 10 years. Now I am back to my country and i really miss oman. Thanks for making video about Oman, I watch your all videos, waiting for the next

I’ve never had any problem in Oman in 10 years, too. I feel safer here than in Italy. No criminals, you can live more relaxed. I hope you’ll come back to Oman one day!

I think you live in one of the most beautiful Arab regions. I have not seen Salalah, but I hope so. I visited Muscat and was very impressed by the Omani people. They are friendly, respectful and peaceful. My father worked in Salalah as an academic and administrative doctor at Salalah College. Do you work in any field in Salalah and do I have the honor of knowing you, miss in particular?

Oman is really gorgeous and Salalah and the e Dhofari region in particular is beautiful and still pristine. I worked in Oman for almost 10 year as a tour guide for Italians and organising tours of the Sultanate

@@toohappytobehomesick honestly we don’t know !! So I never heard in Muscat that Omanis got land for free from the government! Maybe in rural areas where no one wants to live. Definitely not in Muscat. A plot starts easily at 100 000 omr and upwards for around 600 m2 depending where in Muscat.

Nice big house. My query is, there doesn't seem to be many other people in the neighbourhood/nearby. So if you are a family person with kids then your kids will not have many other kids to play with. Also, this being in such remote place, how quick are you likely to get ambulances/emergency services if you needed? Basically, you can't live there without having 1 or 2 cars.

I’m single so it was ok for me - and I didn’t stay all year long there, I like less secluded places - but for people with kids it might not be the best option. However, for any emergency the Sultan Qaboos Hospital is just around 15 minutes away

In my opinion it’s a good salary for Salalah, life is not expensive here at all. But you have to see what school your kids will attend. International schools are expensive in Oman like anywhere in the world I think

Hello, are you going to be in Muscat or Salalah? The last is cheaper than the capital city in terms of rent and cost of living. It all depends if your son/daughter should attend an international school. If not, then 2500 OMR is more than sufficient. Otherwise, the international school fees I’ve heard being very high

The area is called Awqad-near Raysut port and I did not pay any rent because it is my sponsor’s family property. The rent of a villa like this one is usually around 300 OMR a month

It was good! It’s safe and quiet, better than Italy for some aspects. It’s very good if you are a family or a couple. For singles it can be a little boring (in Salalah). That’s my personal opinion, because I do not go to clubs or meet expats there

Hi, my sponsor told me that it costs around 200 OMR (Oman Rial) a month to rent a villa like that one in that area. I don’t know the price in case we want to buy it because foreigners can’t buy in Oman except in designated areas, for example Hawana Salalah or Al Muji in Muscat

I don’t know how much was the rent for this villa because I stayed for free since it was given by my sponsor. In Salalah you can rent an apartment for as low as 100 OMR a month to 500 OMR up for a villa

Oman is super safe at anytime of the day and night, I’ve never had any problem since I first arrived back in 2012. I would respect the local dress code - no shorts, skirts below the knees and no tops. You can rent a car and drive by yourself without any problem. And if something happens, Omani people are very kind and always stop to make sure you’re ok. Summer means khareef season in Salalah so it gets crowded and humid. It only lasts 3 months though, it’s bearable in my opinion

Salam Alaykum and Ramadan Kareem! Well, it depends on which country you like in terms of lifestyle and weather, too. What type of business do you have in mind? Oman is certainly a nice country with good opportunities for business (you can check the Facebook group “Muscat entrepreneurs”). Online shops work well, too, depending on what you sell and who you sell to. Italy in my opinion is the worst country because of the high taxes.

I am sorry I don’t know the UAE market, I’ve never lived there. Muscat could be a good market for ice cream and chips. Salalah too. It really depends where you open your business, you must do a research on the bar areas in town
