Exactly...ignore that...toad in a hole is English dish...with sausages. Americans do the egg in bread...which my family called egg with a hat...melted cheese over the egg browned the cut out and put on top.

I would stack all four on top of one another and pour a side bowl of maple syrup. Salty, sweet, and sour/hot (the hot sauce). Yum

It's called a "toad in the hole" and the point is to have the egg showing through the hole, not to cover it up with layers of other food.

Wrong. Once you cover it with other ingredients it is its own dish. Not Toad in the Hole. 🐸🇺🇸

That's very true and this is some American thing....toad in a hole is English dish...with sausage...doesnt even resemble English dish. I would love Danny's recipe with hash browns...fresh slice of tomatoe.
