I have been doing a ton of flounder fishing this month trying to place in a local virtual tournament called the Doormat Classic. It's a month long event that allows anglers to fish when they can and submit their fish through the ‪@fishing_chaos‬ app for the top 10 Longest Flounder! It's been super fun so far and this is just one of the many trips I've made this month trying to win this thing. The Flounder I caught in this video definitely bumped me up a few places on the leaderboard!

It’s over now, I’m alittle late publishing this video. I ended up getting 3rd place in the virtual top 10 longest fish and 1st for the most 20” flounder released!

I would agree with that, however some of the internet gets their panties in a wad when I call a 20” flounder a doormat 😅

@CaptCollier Well, along the gulf coast 20" is, they may have them bigger in the Atlantic but we're not fishing the Atlantic. 😉

Heard about the tag program but not much info out there about where they go during the winter. Do they seek out offshore structure and go dormant . Or do they go out over the canyon . Where are the tags being reported?

“Most” of the bigger females migrate offshore to spawn is what I have heard and seen from a few reports. Some people even catching them as bycatch grouper fishing. Some fish still stay around the inshore areas as well. I would like to see more reports from the fish I tag to get more information

Are flounder often found under those piers in the summer also or just in the fall?

Yes any structure from May-October will hold them

I never fished piers that methodically. I cast at a few random poles and then down the whole length of the pier, never finding much. I guess I need to pick them apart like you're doing@@CaptCollier
