Plans to create what the Jaguars call “The Stadium of the Future” were approved this week by City Council members, who voted 14 to 1 in favor of the proposal. Former City of Jacksonville Chief of Staff Chris Hand says it’s probably the biggest moment in the history between the city of Jacksonville and the Jacksonville Jaguars since the team was first awarded in November of 1993.

If you look at the stadium interest and public financing situations in cities like St. Louis, Mo; Austin, Texas; San Diego, Ca; Toronto, Ontario; Oakland, CA; San Antonio, Texas. You will understand why this went so smoothly. Other than London, which is a novelty and logistical nightmare, there was nowhere for the Jaguars to relocate.
