When they moved to Sirius in 2006 they ''tweaked'' it that way so it would sound the same way that it did when he used his mic in his office to talk to Howard on the old E! TV show at KROCK. It originally was nice & clear like you'd expect it to sound, but Howard didn't like the way it sounded so they played around with it til it sounded like it did at KROCK.

I feel sorry for the audiobook editors who had to cut out all the excessively loud inhalation noises Gary actually makes. I want to burn my ears whenever I hear him breathe in when he talks. I can't listen to the Wrap Up Show because of that sound.
