Hi Phil, ive just finished reading Neil Finn's biography Don't Dream its Over, so I've been playing a lot of Crowded House & Split Enz. I'm in the process of reading about an Australian group called Mental As Anything. The book is called I Started Out Just Drinking Beer. Anyway I've been revisiting their music, & what a bunch of great catchy songs. Yes, Mk 1 Deep Purple would be a good review, some of my favourite Deep Purple! 💜 😊

My Playlist for the last week mostly consists of only one album: Cavalera Conspiracy - Schizophrenia. This re-recording of the classic Sepultura album is just brilliant. It finally got the production it deserves. Absolut masterpiece!!! Regarding your Deep Purple inquiry, i for myself don't need to hear anything about the Mark I period tbh. The albums just aren't that great. But that'S just me ;)

I’m going to continue working thru the DP mk1 albums. Thanks for considering doing a review of those. I’m really looking forward to hearing your take on them. I must mention, that my extremely jammy little brother was lucky enough to come across brand new mint condition copies of all three mk1 vinyl albums, on the actual American Tetragramaton label, in a bargain bin at a convenience store in the next village to where we grew up. Quite how they came to be there is utterly beyond me! Jammy beggar! I think he paid a £1 each, about 40 odd years ago. I’m working on a playlist, to put up on Spotify, of all the mellow Sabbath tracks. I’m gonna name it ‘Sabbath Softly Sabbath’. I’ve selected all the tracks I want to use. I’ve just got to work out the sequencing now. Other stuff on rotation is BCC V, Cats In Space Fire In The Night, various Faith No More, various Mountain, lots of Jean-Luc Ponty, still, and lots of When Rivers Meet. Thanks 🙏 for all your hard work! All the best. 🤘😎🤘

Be fun to hear your thoughts on Al Stewarts Past, Present & Future. A deluxe treatment from Cherry Red. Also same kind of treatment from Cherry Red for Hawkwind's In Search of Space. Well done on the Rory (still one of the top five live albums of the 70s) and Quo's Blue For You is my favorite (and has that great denim photo) . Probably scrambled my brains after all the headbangin' to it back in the day.-) Playlist this past week contains Warren Zevon and Black Vinyl Shoes by Shoes from 1977, brilliant power pop with memorable hooks and melodies.

This past week I've been spinning the Bursting Out box set - absolutely brilliant! Also, the 2-CD reggae compilation 'Island Records presents Roots: 37 Essential Roots Anthems' (perfect for summer). Oh, and 'Never Let Me Down' by David Bowie. Yes, I know, I know. It's not Ziggy, or Hunky Dory, or Low, but it's an album that brings back fond memories of time and place. It always lifts the spirits.

Yes please for Deep Purple Mark 1. What have I been listening to? I have been listening to a lot of Fleetwood Mac (Buckingham/Nicks version). I hadn't really paid them too much attention before. Rory Gallagher Live In London is a tremendous album!!! I especially appreciate that it doesn't have keyboards...although the keyboardist was fine...I like hearing Rory Gallagher play with a trio and he is phenomenal on Live In London. Ronnie Montrose Territory is one of my favorites! I have most of his solo albums and Territory is really enjoyable. I never grow tired of it..

About Jethro Tull/Bursting Out: DVDs 1 & 2 contain the remixed tracks in 96 / 24 stereo and 5.1 surround as well as the flat transfers of the original album in 96 / 24 stereo. I "only" have a CD player. Can you tell me in your review what I can do with the two DVDs ? This applies not only to this box set, but also to other box sets. Many thanks in advance.

A piece of advice for my fellow physical media lovers... Don't rush to the obvious online vendor for your purchases, they are no longer anywhere near the cheapest - I've noticed this trend for some time now. Yesterday I ordered the deluxe editions of Jethro Tull's "Bursting Out" and Marillion's "Clutching At Straws" and "Misplaced Childhood", as well as the new Michael Schenker Group box set. Across all four items, I saved £28.27 (including any delivery charges) ordering elsewhere or via our favourite auction site. Do shop around... and not that I believe in conspiracy theories, YT seems to shadow ban any comments that mentions the names of fellow "evil corporations", hence the coded language.
