Sad thing is, had it been a non-food critic who experienced this same issue, I highly doubt all this “courtesy” would’ve been given to that regular customer. They’re probably way WORSE to the regular customers.

@@36louieboy Black people just weren't meant for customer service, we don't do polite or patient very well, you see these same complaints on almost every video Chime does from a black owned business. Whenever I patronize a black business I pre factor in long wait times, bad attitudes and them inevitably leaving something out of my bag, usually condiments, napkins and plasticwear.

Customer service really isn't this difficult, let the customer speak without interrupting, acknowledge what they said and apologize for their unfortunate experience, then offer solutions, respectfully. As a native Detroiter, I'm sorry for your experience, in the end you were still a class act!

You ever worked customer service on a Friday night when you're short staffed 2 people and people get tired of waiting so they start popping off? Welp, it can be challenging but can be pulled off. Customer service is not for the faint by no means but let's stop acting like everybody can do it because it's "easy." It's not.

I am from Detroit. Sadly,this happens often and when the restaurants fail they blame the black consumer . Many of these place hire bodies that are mismanaged,untrained, rude, unprofessional and inconsistent. I had to stop patronizing places that lack basic courtesy. #1 acknowledged the customer#2 listen!

One of my biggest pet peeves is patronizing a business where customer service is subpar. You could have the best food in the world, but if the service is terrible, I will not come back or recommend it to anyone. And if I'm really treated poorly, I may write a Yelp review to express my displeasure. I refuse to allow any business to be rude and disrespectful while spending my money! One or the other may happen, but not both.

Ya. Having poor customer service in the food industry is wildly stupid. 90% of those businesses fail, there is always another option, and profit margins are basically non existent for years unless you're cutting mad corners from the jump. If i owned a restaurant/food truck any and everyone who worked for me would be clear on our customer service goal. I'd make sure our app and other apps we run our business through are always functioning on point, our phone lines are open and being answered, etc.. These people with no business acumen whatsoever need to sit down for 1 day on youtube and just learn the basics. Which is sad to say, because why would you put 6 figures of debt on your back and have such a glaring and easily fixed flaw like bad customer service.

I'm born and raised in Detroit. 90% of restaurant workers are rude and obnoxious. That's why people always go downtown Detroit or the suburbs for food. But inner city Detroit, whatever happens, happens.

We were in Detroit in July. We went to a place called Savannah Blue. At first, it seemed like the service was going to be iffy. Once we said we were from California and recording our experience, the tone changed. They even had the chef come out to speak with us, and he was great. Our food was very good 8.5/10.

@@Lonewolf_1776I was just abt to type this.. Maybe $2. Most are not delivering a $4/$5 order. Customer tipped $0-$3. I’ve been in a few restaurants & seen bags just sitting, waiting to be picked up. Clearly those ppl didn’t tip for the driver to deliver them. However DD & the customer needs to do better an get those ppl paid. I was in bestbuy & worker getting my item said “he does dd in the summer for extra income but he doesn’t take those small ish orders cuz it’s a waste of his time.”

Thank you for opening their eyes...This was not a difficult issue. Who is in charge here, where is the leader of this staff. I experience this type of passive-aggressive behavior all of the time and nobody is held accountable...so so sad. Some people are angry about it but I'm not. I have gotten home with my food many times and threw the food straight into the garbage. Because of lack of proper training. That's where the breakdown begins...Thank you Mr Chime❤

What I'm most astounded by is you will always say "if you're ever in the ... area check this place out" even if it's less than good, or they've treated you poorly, because I know you know the power your reviews have. For someone to not patronize black business simply because of a stereotypical generalization, but never having experience it is the epitome of self hate. As a detroiter i have to say they were wrong as hell but it doesn't represent every restaurant worker in detroit im sure this shyt happens in other cities as well but unfortunately these clowns got caught. One of the restaurants that you went to is right around the corner from me. Customer service is very important in any legitimate business that you have and ppl should know that. This is just a bad apple that isn't the norm here in detroit, and yes I've encountered rude Customer service before myself but for the most part its been positive. I have enjoyed your reviews and your professionalism as a food critic thank you for coming to detroit.

I’ve always said this if you can’t handle your own feelings and emotions towards customers in fast food or retail then the job ain’t for you as much bullshit as I had to put up with working all these jobs but I never had an attitude with anyone who comes to the business or calls even if they in the wrong customer service is key and to be as kind as possible smh whoever that person is who got rude with you should get suspended or fired

Now you get the real Detroit Experience. The rest of the world gets, "Welcome to McDonald's. May I take your order?" In Detroit, it's "And what do YOU want?" or "No refunds or exchanges! You should have never walked out with your food...It's that liquor talking...Next!" I saw this at The Shrimp Palace, and McDonald's 8/Lahser, and the Checkers 8/Livernois. All 3 went out of business.......

She wouldn’t stop running her “Motorcity mouth” is got sent me 😂 but in all honestly Detroit people are RUDE! It wasn’t until I left the state that I realized that us Detroiters have a different type of attitude. We don’t have a southern hospitality or welcoming attitude when it comes to people we don’t know. We have the Detroit vs everybody spirit and to outsiders it comes out as rude and outright ignit at times. This video proves what I’ve been saying about my fellow Detroiters (maybe this doesn’t pertain to everyone, but definitely most). I’ve now learned to change my attitude and behavior because everyone is not my enemy and not everyone is “coming for me” even though that was once my mentality and response to everybody in any given situation. I’m glad you took the high road bro and not act “ignit” back. You remained professional and we respect that! Sorry this was your experience. It’s time to leave Detroit Chime lol! It’s a place you’d want to stay for too long 😂

I agree with you. I am from Detroit and I met someone from Atlanta and they shared the same sentiments about the city. I told my cousin that now lives in Dallas that the saying “Detroit vs Everbody” really means Detroit vs. Everybody even going as far to say Detroit vs Detroit that’s the mentality and it sucks because it is truly a hindrance. When I go down south, they show me love to the point where I’ve often think to myself “I think I could live here”. Nevertheless I am determined to stay and help the next generation be and do better..

I grew up there in the 80’s and moved to Texas about 5 yrs ago. So I was there all my life until recently. I love the changes that they’ve made to downtown, and the airport. They’re really upgrading to now it’s more of a tourist attraction. But the PEOPLE can be as cold as the weather in December 😂 And I love my people but let’s be honest. We’re a different breed lol.

Both restaurants reached out to him, and told him what was going on, and he made videos telling the people don’t do the restaurant like that, because of one bad experience. This man has influence.

As a native Detroiter. Detroiter has some of the worst customer service I’ve ever experienced. Since I’ve moved back, I’ve try to always FIRST patron black owned and it 9/10 is a horrible over priced experience. We definitely need to do better

I live in detroit. Almost every black ran restaurant and I HATE TO SAY THIS is RUDE AND UNPROFESSIONAL ASF. You can't even walk into most mcdonalds and burger kings to have a meal because the lazy employees keep the doors locked all day (drive thru only so if you don't have a car then oh well). And this is why I’m always recording. The police was just called on me at dollar general to trespass me. Thank goodness I have footage from my November haul and a a live, and footage when the police came to me in the store and a live of that as well🙏🏽🙏🏽You are correct sir.
