Today we're looking at the discontinuation of Pippi, a long-standing fan favourite amongst the Conan Exiles modding community. For over 5 years, Pippi has been the backbone of Conan Roleplay and modded servers, and whilst it may be going away, there is something in the pipeline from a different team. Enjoy!

Thank you for the excellent, bitter-sweet tribute and highlights of PIPPI - and the possible replacements. Much appreciated. PIPPI will always be The Admin mod, but it is great to see the gaps being filled. There will always be a Joshtech thrall in some seedy tavern in towns in my Exiled Lands, Siptah and Savage Wilds servers in memory of this foundation mod. Thanks again. Love your videos. 🍻 ps: I am almost sure I have seen a multigun bandit out there on my servers too - and traders fia, mia, senja, narelle, dr nash, hosav, alrenstor, cookiejar, terronaut, sable, larathiel, ignasi (just because), and jimbo et all too. So many awseome modders and way too little thanks given them all.

This is why open-source is the way. No mod should be so important that when development stops, it kills an entire community. Fortunately, skilled developers has stepped in to fill the needs. Modding has kept games alive beyond their predicted lifespan, in the case of Skyrim, over a decade. In the case of Conan Exiles, who knows?

@@GrymmsPlace Honestly, wouldn't advise tributes to him. Josh ended up throwing a hissy fit, blocking the modders that were making alternatives to Pippi - after announcing the end of the development - and then decided to update the mod again after the community didn't throw money at him to keep it afloat. His behaviour really poured a lot of goodwill down the drain!

This was a lovely tribute to Pippi and Joshtech. I couldn’t imagine administering a modded server without Pippi and I thought I’d have to shut down my server when Josh made the heart-breaking announcement. The Beyond Team jumping in to fill the void turned everything around, though. I’ve loved everything they’ve produced and know this will be a quality tool.

honestly instead of just abandoning it he could have released the source files so that the community could continue updating it. instead hes made it so people will have to start from scratch. and chances are it wont be long till it dont work no more considering the newest update coming out now.

It's his creation, he can do what he wants with it. It's not like you or others payed him a monthly wage for it, since it is free on Steam Workshop. No one has the right to tell him how to use what he created and spent countless hours/headaches on. People who say this are self entitled and expect everything for free.

@@JJDemon that’s nonsense. If I’m dumping time into a mod, knowing it’s a mod, I’m literally building it for a community. There’s no reason not to release it except to punish the community. It’s kinda bullshit and damaging to the reputation of the modder. There’s no reason he couldn’t have found a team he trusted to hand it off to and his name would have lived on forever, it’s tainted now and will eventually be forgotten.

The gratitude you expressed in this video hits the perfect note. Detailing out the journey, whats coming next, and how the community is coming together not only gives hope, but shines a light on just how fantastic this community really is.

This is truly heartbreaking, this mod created so many memories and events I use in roleplay to this day. I hope all the best for JoshTech in whatever they end up doing. As for the beyond admin team, I hope for all the best.

I haven't spoken to him personally, but it seems he's stepping away from modding in general, from what I can tell. He definitely deserves the break after 5+ years of constant maintenance and support

This gives me hope. I wanted to make my own roleplay server with custom buildings, quests, and more but pippi dropped support the day I started this. Looks like beyond admin will give everything I need and from the sounds of it, likely more. Thank you beyond for your hard work!

The loss of Pippi will be felt heavily, no doubt. And I totally respect Josh's decision to quit and even not release the source code. While I do respect it, I do not understand it; why he would not share something with the community he no longer has interest in and can't really use for anything else either. It is his work and intellectual property, no doubt. But a rather diappointing choice on his side nonetheless. I hope the Beyond team can make fast and solid progress, as their mod is probably the runner up to take Pippi's place and become the new baseline mod for many others.

Great video and tribute. Long live Pippi! One of my favorite mods for such a long time! What a huge help it was through the years for the game community. It was sad when I knew it was being discontinued, but I understood Jostech decision, however I am thankful for him and the rest of the team for the long-time support and effort, I haven't seen a mod like this for Conan and I can tell there are many amazing mods out there. It was extremely useful for when I was server admin but also it was one of my main choices for many of my videos, I overused those Thespians countless times haha. I still needed to learn some of the features. I always wished to see some of its features to be implemented in the actual game, like the command to force meteors, I never understood why devs didn't add that one when the meteors were bugged haha. I will keep using the mod until it stops breathing. Thank you for this video. I will keep an eye on what Beyond mods creators are working on, I really like Beyond Decor, which I have been using for a while now. Pippi is for sure something to be well kept in our memories.

I've been saying it for a looong time now... Funcom needed to add a tool set like Pippi forever ago...but here we are, I guess. I'll be happy to see what the Beyond team can pull together as using one more of their mods won't hurt me none.

This was a lovely video and thank you for taking the time to make it! Having been playing Conan Exiles since the first day of pre-launch and having been deeply involved with the roleplaying community beginning even before that with the Conan Exiles RP community, I've had the pleasure of watching Pippi evolve and getting to know some of the fine people involved with it. I know for a fact I would not still be playing CE had it not been for Pippi. I think most of us in the RP community feel that way. So yes, news of its imminent demise was both shocking and saddening. But seeing the quality of the work going into its successors and the way the modding community is largely pulling together has been extremely heartening. Many thanks to JoshTech and the rest of the Pippi team for all the wonder you brought to this game for so long. And many thanks and well wishes for everyone brave enough to step into the void and pick up the mantle. You're inspiring.

Pippi, will be missed. It's been one of the most important tools of any server to have. While things never last forever, I hope the Pippi Team find new rewarding endeavors as they depart the Conan Exiles, genre. I am glad to know that Beyond is stepping in to provide options, we wouldn't otherwise have. Thank you to both Pippi and Beyond, for the work they've done and continue to do.

I have been playing Conan on and off for a few years, just recently picked it up and started playing seriously and actually learning the game. About a week and a half ago a friend bought a private server for any of our friends who wanted to play and when going through mods he decided to use this. I never knew anything of Pippi so as the only other admin I jumped into learning its features and what it can do. Just found that it is broke for 3.0 and will not be fixed post release, I was a bit saddened by it. I had a wonderful tool at my disposal for a game I am really enjoying and then I heard it's going away. I'm really happy that's not the case however. Looking forward to relearning with Beyond Admin once 3.0 is out and the mod releases for it.

Pippi was indeed amazing, it's utility is definitely gonna be missed, but it seems that Beyond are on the right track with implementing the stuff desperately needed before adding their own flavour

As happy as I am that Beyond Admin is stepping up to help fill the void Pippi will be leaving, all I can think about is how many hours I put in on our servers writing Mushi Scripts, placing Tools, and configuring them. Not only do I get to replace everything, I also get to try and figure out the new Mod as well. I wish Joshtech the best in his future endeavors and I wish Beyond Admin great success at making us all forget Pippi ever existed.

Yes, when I first saw JoshTech's message on his Pippi's Discord, I was... shocked. I also teared up, as Pippi was in every server since the 1st private server I joined. It is more than Pippi, though, it was JoshTech's prompt updates and fixes that MADE the game. Without Pippi, I likely would have quit Conan Exiles long ago. A new mod/mods MAY develop to carry on, but I cannot imagine Pippi being fully replaced. Thanks to JoshTech for years of gameplay!

I'm sorry to hear Pippi is leaving us. Although, I never got really use it like it should have been used, it was in all my games. It will be sorely missed. Tyvm Eradication for the update on Pippi and informing us of another similar mod in the works. My gracious tyvm and best wishes to Joshtech on his future endeavors.

Absolutely crushed finding out about Pippi's demise, and I echo the comments regarding distribution of the code - I do understand it's Joshtech's code but considering how much Joshtech did for the community, I just feel like something must have happened to cause such a reaction. I am hoping I am wrong, but regardless my user base asked me to relay our entire servers regards to Joshtech, and thank you for making this video.

With Pippi going it was looking bleak for a bit there. Scratting around to look for mods or code that could replicate Pippis tools. Ive got all the beyond mods so far and have been extremely happy witht them so look forward to see what theyre going to do with this. Great endorsement from yourself and a fabulous way to say goodbye to Pippi and Joshtech.

This really hurts private servers. No team will be able to fill the gaps that took 5 years of work. (The beyond mods team are legends though)

Absolutely not, I don't think any team thinks they'll be able to completely replace Pippi in such a short amount of time. Prioritizing features based on community feedback is a pretty good approach though, definitely a smart choice to make

I did two rp severs and got to say, it was no where near what I had thought and hoped it be. to me I see a live action dnd campaign really, all with story line and players affecting said story lines. but it was not...

RP servers really live and die on the quality of the players, just as much as the servers. You can have an amazingly structured server but that's only 50% of it, and with the Conan RP community being so small compared to other games, there are only so many roleplayers to go around unfortunately. Many games with RP have a similar issue. There are still some amazing RP servers out there though

It is a shame, but I can understand not wanting to give away a source code that has been worked on for so many years to someone that may take it in a different direction. The upside is that people can build their source code from the ground up in the way they want to hook into whatever future systems they have planned, and I've heard that Beyond wants to add stuff that Pippi did not have to make the overall experience smoother

Joshtech's departure is the loudest warning that this community needs to shape up and to finally properly support its mod creators. This has been a problem for years, and the attacks on Josh by the community on Pippi's discord only highlighted this issue more. Treat it as the warning that it is, reach out to mod creators and ask what you can do to help. Or Pippi will not be the last of the major mods to lose long term support.

i play solo quite a bit and i still use it even if just to create a personal world economy system and pippi kits for fun use . pippi will be missed but with beyond working hard we may be getting somethign just as good or better

Really bad news. Especially since I put 100s of hours into a new server of mine entirely around Pippi. Disgusting that he isn't passing the torch and leaving the entire community to twist in the wind and scramble to fill the void.

I'll never understand the section of the modding community (across all of gaming) that refuses to open their mods when they leave it behind. At least it's not being deleted from the workshop outright, I guess.

@@aetherial87 Right? Its only valuable to players and only a small section of players at that. Theres nothing proprietary or monetarily valuable about modding for a game like this. This is literally equivalent to leaving and taking your toys home and right ahead of 3.0. This mod is the second most subscribed and the source of my enjoyment for this game. Its absence will be sorely missed and I can only hope people are dissecting it as we speak and will be able to replace it in time.

@@aetherial87 Sometimes a modder simply can't share the mod when he quits because there are assets in it for which he has paid for usage rights. In such cases, sharing the mod with other people would simply be illegal. In the case of Pippi, I don't know what the reasons are, only Josh knows.

@@Thyris_ ah right but nobody says that with chains of hyboria lmao. when the previous creator passed it on to chains, they immediatly put an ad on it for their own server, did not purchase the proper licenses to 3d models that are within that mod and put a version without their server ad BEHIND A PAYWALL. nobody bats an eye about that though

Yeah if you don't make content or play modded/rp servers then it's likely not of much use, but for those communities it was extremely important

Dick Move by Joshtec by not releasing the dev kit. Hopefully the modding community unites and makes something better. The Beyond team are some stellar folks. Im sure they will put something together much better.

this s ust my 2 copper but... if joshtech isn't gonna continue modding and is discontinuing the mod, no more updates and the sort, WHY not let the code and allow otherws to build on from where he leves off?, that's inovation growth a commuity that grows together is much stronger than alone... Sorry I loved al joshtech has done for us, but i feel personally it's kind of a jerk move to just hold yoru code and let thngs die, just becuse you move on why not let the code live on with other caretakers.

this might be the second mod to be completely abandoned since.. the first mod I ever used was.. actually um.. Conan Sexiles and that mod is outdated and completely abandoned. but Its sad to hear when a modder loses complete interest in modding a game and its may be in all honestly the game devs fault.. so blame it on the devs as we lost alot of potentials

Fortunately, the author hath returneth :). He said he won't be adding new stuff, but he will keep mode updated and functional. As he said he did and Pippi works perfectly in Ago of Sorcery. Yupieee :)
