Octane ratings on gasoline only means their resistance to detonation. Unless you have a high compression or boosted engine it is identical in burn speed, energy output, and stoichiometric mixture with air. In other words, an older ls engine will run fine on 87 octane

If you have to do that kind of fill ,hold your finger over the opening for as long as you can, then shove the spout right down the hole. You'll spill some, but 95% will get into the engine this way...MARVEL MYSTERY OIL is good stuff, it definitely has its place on any good mechanics shelf. Great in the fuel too, especially with today's ethanol in most fuels... Nice ride for sure!!!

My xterra was using quite a bit of oil, it had an oil leak when I first got it(he said it didn't, but I finally realized it) which turned out to be a quick n easy fix. But, I think the previous owner may have let it run low on oil and when I first got it, I drove it on a long trip and the next day when i checked the oil, it was really low. Not sure if that caused the problem or he was not good with oil changes. But, the engine has always done well except for too much oil consumption. It had what I think was too much blow by, so when I replaced the timing chains recently, I poured a decent amount of MMO down each plug hole and let it set for about a week, I rotated the engine several times during this process and after several days, I added some more. Once I had it all back together, it took it a bit to start and man it smoked like a chimney for about 30 min or so. So far the oil consumption is WAY down and after around 1k miles, the oil level is still very close to where it was when i changed it. after getting the engine back together, I put in some conventional oil with some mmo and drove it for a couple hundred miles, then changed it with my typical high mileage mobil 1 and a little less than a qt of mmo. So maybe the rings were stuck with carbon ,, idk.. It never smoked, but it was consuming oil and had quite a bit of blow by. I bought a pretty good air compressor air water separator and installed it, like a catch can and that is also working great. So b4 you listen to all the nay sayer's about if you have blow by it's too late, at least give it a shot. Could just be a ring stuck with carbon or from some other reason. I drove my car from bama back to NC and checked it each day for the past week and the oil is still very close to full and I may have not gotten it totally full when I changed it, so we'll see, but for now she is much better and runs great and also, no more low octane pinging like I was getting b4, with all the oil from the pcv going into the intake. I learned that it lowers the octane, I always wondered why when I used regular fuel I would get some pinging, now the issue is gone! I think between the mmo and the "oil catch can", problem solved.

I've been using MMO and Lucas fuel & oil products for years . . . Decades in the case of MMO, as did my dad. Proper maintenance and regular oil and fluid changes are the key to powertrain longevity. I've owned and driven musclecars and worked on them as well. If it's stock, that vintage Corvette has a low-compression smog motor, probably about 8.5:1, and unless the manufacturer recommends high-test, you can probably get away with 87 octane fuel. I add MMO and Lucas fuel treatment to every 3rd tankful at least. I just had to replace my 5.4 3valve Triton-powered Expedition with just under 540,000 miles without any internal repairs. I'd consider what another commenter recommended regarding the Rotella diesel oil . . . Makes sense. Will probably cushion the valves and protect the top end of the mill, but the MMO added to the gas also helps lubricate the valvetrain. Good luck

My lil work daily is a Ford ranger with the 2.3l 5sp 2wd with 502,000 miles and still rocking the original engine transmission and rear end! 3000 mile oil changes clearly does wonders along with good maintenance. I just give my daughter a 2006 Impala recently and it now has 220,000 miles and runs like the day it was new. Both Techron and MMO helped both vehicles get to these mileages!

I would use 10-40 or even a 20-50 in an older V8 because its a little thicker. Also, you need to buy better oil filters... STB filters are pretty weak, with felt end-caps. Plus, being a Hi=Performance engine you need a sturdy oil filter like Wix, or Fram Ultra Synthetic (even if using conventional oil) I also swear by Marvel Mystery Oil. I put 1/4oz per gallon of gas, and do an oil flush from time to time like you did. I wouldn't suggest adding Marvel to the oil and running the car normally because the Marvel will break down the viscosity of the actual engine oil. Todays oils are high tech. The additives have a great benefit to your engine, and make the oil last far longer before viscosity breakdown.

Its not rocket science, the bottle is shaped a specific was bc you are supposed to pour it from the proper side. The larger half facing the ground to prevent the air gulps and splashing. I am wondering if you ever changed your oil, added oil, added any fluids in anything prior to this. As far as octane, put what it was designed for. You have spark plugs that burn a specific temp based on the compression of your motor. If you have an 87 car that has 91 in it, you'll find the combustion and plugs doesn't burn hot enough for full detonation, and unburned fuel gets burned out the exhaust. If you use 91 in an 87 car, it has hotter plug which will burn the fuel before detonation causing the classing "ping and knocking". Good luck to your channel. This video gives me a headache. Reminds me of my 8yr old phone and all his videos of these overly hyper people. People do not act like this on a daily basis when the cameras go off. Almost like newcasters, they don't talk like that in real life at home. But anyways, I was looking for a legit credible video. Based on what I saw and see, I cannot take you serious. But yes, Marvel Mystery works.

They most likely put thicker oil in it to try preventing it from burning it so quickly. With a thinner oil it might bypass the piston oil ring and increase the oil consumption.

*LEARN ABOUT CARS* before you attempt to maintain them! The fuse was NOT the problem. The fuse just keeps the device from drawing too much electricity and burning itself up. You either had something disconnected or a connection was corroded, and you moving everything around wore through that and a good connection was made. IT'S AN EXHAUST MANIFOLD, not a "header." Headers are tubular. You have a cast iron manifold. YOU NEED 93 OCTANE GAS because of the compression ratio of the engine. If you use lower octane gas you will damage your engine, if the manual says you have to use 93 octane gas. YOU NEED TO KNOW WHAT YOU ARE DOING. Learn first BEFORE you destroy your car.
