I feel like peope dog on the Rock for forgetting his words, but people forget that this was still PG era. Even 4 years after the Benoit tragedy, Vince kept all wrestlers on a very short leash in order to appeal to the advertisers. EVERYTHING had to be filtered.

I have a theory that advertisers aren't the only reason that the WWE has scrips that wrestlers have to go by...except John Cena. The poster boy has to be the one that can go off script and have the best lines and talk the biggest and baddest. It makes so much sense in his position even though he's not as active...

A big reason why WWE became so awful unfortunately scripted promos actually started with the Rock

It makes no sense to me that youd script those promo things. I thought that a huge part of why a pro wrestler becomes successful is their charisma and ability to improvise and amp up interactions.

Having promos as bullets points makes so much more sense. It keeps the wrestlers on track but it still lets them use their own personality

It’s a shame when we live in a time where heels can’t get real heat and they script promos to avoid people getting offended. Heels are SUPPOSED to PISS YOU OFF. That’s their job! Having shareholders and such kills a wrestling company because instead of a wrestler feeling the crowd and cutting an organic promo they make up, they have to drone on and on from a sheet of paper they memorized, even if it doesn’t fit with the crowd. Marks can’t tell the difference between a heel working the crowd and the person behind the heel and wanna think the person actually thinks that way or that they and the company should be “cancelled.”

I don't know why on Earth Vince gave the okay or even thought of scripted promos as something that is good and beneficial. It completely takes away from the art and the Finesse of the wrestler. For several decades the ability to do good on the mic and grab the crowd's attention using your own creativity and experience show just how good of nmc you truly were even if you were not good in the ring technically.

Scripts are stupid. Let them sink or swim. They will either put the work in or the weak will be weeded out. This is the way.

You should do your research The Rock never stutter and i mean never or write is promo in his wrist check the mic work when he transition from Rocky Maivia to The Rock. During Cena Fued, The Rock was tearing through Cena and need to give an edge for Cena so he can pull it off an upset and make it even real hence comes the stutter and promo written on the wrist.
