This Yugioh Card Isn't What You Think

Interestingly, despite the majority of Yugioh's Vylon archetype being Synchro monsters, Vylon Disigma exists as an XYZ monster. And its card effect feels like a step away from equip spell-heavy tactics of its brethren - the Rank 4 steals other monsters for itself instead. Believe it or not, there's a lore reason for this - this video will dive into the utter betrayal of Disigma to its kind and to the tribes of Duel Terminal.

It adds some more horror, when you realize that on the art of Xyz Reversal, you see Disigma have more arms behind it, indicating that it has already absorbed a couple monsters before its battle with Pearl

it is because per the lore, disigma DID absorb a handfull of important characters. multiple evigishki, lavalval and gusto monsters were basicaly eaten by disigma

A extra curiosity, vylon disigma can only attach to himself effect monster and have an atk of 2500, and exactly gem knight pearl is a no-effect monster with exactky 2600 atk

Yeah, this design department of Konami definitely shines. A lot of neat intricacies in many of the cards we have that stem beyond just the raw art.

It’s crazy how all it took to dissolve the moral of the DT tribes was a single brainwashed servant in Noellia. Sure they bounced back, but Noellia’s betrayal had lasting consequences after Disigma’s creation.

I love this. the duel terminal story has so muc hdark stuff in it. especially the ending of the first part. the whole planet is at war for what, centuries at this point? one apocalypse after another is happening, every time the antagonists are beaten, a new, stronger one appears. there is uncountable death and suffering throughout all of this, yet the good forces keep steady.and at the end of that: the creater, god herself appears and basicaly just says "you guys are a mistake. I will kill you all and start anew"

Vylons are my favorite duel terminal archetype, I love the combination of angels and abstract machinery. Though I do wonder what the in universe difference between an xyz monster and a synchro monster is. It feels like there is something there and is indeed something the tribes had to master, but I can't put my finger on it yet

It's implied that Xyz stems from the lswarm corruption. In the Duel Terminal storyline, we see Noellia forming several Xyz monsters. It's also implied, if not outright stated, that it is done via the same ritual Noellia used on Emilia. There are some outliers though.

basicaly, yes. noellia is the cause of alot of death and suffering. not just the steelswarm, but also the evilswarm are her cause. and, as we have seen in this video, the corruption of the vylons.

Vylons were made to specifically fight the Steelswarm, which they do are better than.

Though I agree with you that Vylons are worse than their creators, I feel like they're much better than Steelswarm. I don't recall that deck ever standing out - Vylon, on the other hand, could do some really funny things by using their not-HOPT, "Vylon Element".
