Heyyy!! Today we are adding a cozy vibe to our Master Bedroom Makeover on a budget of course! In this episode, I'm focusing adding new floor to ceiling curtains, but doing it in a high end looking way! I'm also painting our {look for less} night stands & making them a lively olive green color. And aside from other small touches, the other big project we are working on, is making a DIY frame tv & painting it gold! I love all of these elements on their own, but together they create a custom, styled & intentional bedroom space, that is the perfect place to unwind after a long day! *Umm… it took primer PLUS 7 coats of paint!! 🫠 I loved the color in the end, but it made me work for it… and next time, I will just pick a color in the paint brand/style I know & love 😂 lesson learned!! 🤪*

That green as a LOT of yellow in it, so I'm not surprised at the amount of coats. Red and yellow are notorious for requiring SEVERAL coats. Back in the 90's we painted our bedroom raspberry and even with a (recommended) Barbie pink primer, it was still FIVE coats to cover!!

I had the same problem with this paint. I ended up 2 months later painting over it. Never will I buy it again. I will stick with the tried and true Sherwin-Williams paint. Your bedroom looks great. So pretty.

7 coats of paint is crazy. Nothing should need 7 coats of paint for full coverage. Not buying that for sure. I love the shade of the curtains and the nightstands but I think they clash. My opinion only.

The biggest difference in this makeover, is the addition of COLOR. In a world of gray and beige everything, the colors are what stand out the most for me. 🙂

*Sooooo… was anyone else as worried as me when I started painting?! 🤪 I’m thankful that after SOOOOO many coats of paint, I love the color & fingers crossed the paint will hold up 😂… but let me know all your thoughts on the projects we worked on today!? ALSO, are you in love with how the diy tv frame turned out & the impact it had?! I've never seen paint react like that before...makes you wonder if it was just a bad batch maybe or the primer wasn't a good mix with the chemical makeup of the paint. I would have been crying 😭 from exhaustion by that 7th coat! 😬. Still though, in the end it turned out beautifully ✨⭐🌟

Adding the deep green throughout has made such a HUGE impact. Definitely the curtains made the biggest difference, but I also love how the green nightstands and frame tv turned out. This video was the turning point for the room for sure! I do kind of feel like the bed frame still pulls farmhouse with the new additions but overall the room looks so good and cozy. I can't wait to see the finished product!!

You have such great decor ideas! Love the frame idea. The green nightstands are pretty. One suggestion, tint you primer is a game changer. They usually suggest and we have been doing this for many, many years is when you are going dark over a light or light over dark tint. Your primer close to the color you are using. You will find you don't have to do so many Coats. It actually saves you time, Paint and primer is usually so much cheaper than paint. Even if we have paint with primer in it tint primer. I have a couple boys that wanted their room. Dark and a family friend is a professional painter and he gave us that suggestion end. We only had to do a 2 coats. We could have actually gotten by with one because we used the tinted primer but I wanted To do an extra coat so we put a dark paint over a white wall and counting the primer. It was 3 coats and it covered beautifully. We have done this with furniture as well. Really, it makes a difference.

The curtains, I think, have made the biggest difference to the room. The corner with curtains, armchair and footstool looks really inviting and a lovely comfy space for a cup of coffee and a book, or a glass of wine.... or two, but altogether what you have both done is a fantastic achievement, really clever 🎉🤩

The curtains made the biggest impact to me. My favorite is the painted nightstands. I was shocked at how many coats it took to cover them. The end result with new hardware is amazing!

WOW!! I didn’t know the difference these changes would make today. The room looks so elegant, warm & cozy. Your talent of making everything come together so beautifully is amazing. Besides the real obvious changes you did today, I like that you used the earth tones of green and brown. From the past, the wall mirror has been lovely, the comfy corner chair is always a plus, and the shelving has been great. Oh, and the gold lamps are a YES!! 💛💛💛

What a difference the color changes have done. I truly appreciate your vision on this one. I think I guessed 6 or 7 coats of paint on the nightstands. They are gorgeous. The picture frame really adds a touch of elegance to the TV. I am really loving the curtains just think what you will save on your power bill. The room is so inviting and warm. Great job both of you. I can’t believe it took 7 coats!!!! That’s crazy!! I wouldn’t ever buy that paint again. Over the years we have painted many things in my family & NEVER had to use 7 coats on top of primer. I like the entire room & I think you have done a great job. I think the shelving has made a huge difference. Great job!!

Amanda, I've watched you and Kyle renovate your entire house and part of your old house, and I don't know of another couple that work so well together as you two do. You truly complement each other. Hiiiiiii painter here, when painting light surfaces with a dark color, you can have the paint store tint your primer to a gray so that the dark paint covers more evenly with less coats :)

The bedroom is looking so nice & refreshed!! Love the frame - I'm glad we all convinced Kyle - lol!! The curtains look great - love the color. one suggestion for the sliding doors is to please get rid of those vertical blinds & that piece on the top that they're attached to - I think it would look even better! I would love to see a decorative bed pillow maybe a lumbar style - ya know a longer one across the other 3 w/more color or a pattern that would pull all of the lovely greens & browns in the room together. Or even a grouping of ones w/some color. I can't wait to see the final reveal!!

The nightstands look great! A suggestion for future is always use a gray primer when painting dark colors. It’s a much better coverage and a much better truer coverage than painting over white.😊

Hi Amanda, you mentioned headaches. I also get them from time to time. I've learned a lot of things about it. Some of it is due to things we fail to do for one reason or another. We need to be very hydrated. Dehydration causes headaches. We need to have adequate sleep. Lack of it also brings headaches. Nit eating on a regular basis. Lack of food also brings headaches. Worries. To take care of that. Breathing exercises. Deep breathes to fill lungs as much as possible and take an additional puff of air. Let it out slowly through the mouth. Do it as little as 3 times, then breathe in normal, making sure you fill your lungs. These little DIYs 😊 will help tremendously. I also found out chocolate and strong odors give me headaches. I've learned to listen to my body and no meds. That is the beauty of it. Sometimes, even direct wind or AC brings on the headache. Hope this helps. Thanks for the mask tip in case I do have it again.

Love love love the new night stands! I think the bed changing colors and hardware and the new drapes change ther room the most. Adding color around the room has really transformed the room. Looking good!! My one thing that I am not a fan of is the lamps. The lamp shade is a big factor. This was a great motivation for me today!! Thank you!! 7 more days before I move!!!! 🤩

The drapes made the biggest difference and help tie the room together. Not a fan of the green side tables but they work well in the room. I didn’t think I would like the frame on tv but it looks great and room looks very cohesive and beautiful.❤

I love the green but 7 coats is absolutely crazy. The bed from previous episodes are my favourite but the frame around the tv and green curtains are my favourite it does make a difference because the room is very white. You need to do something above your bed like art to add some colour that side. ❤

The biggest diff overall is adding the deep colors:) in this episode adding the pretty curtains def made the room more dramatic & cozy!! I think the walls may need to be darker maybe? Or an accent dark green wall? U guys are so inspiring! The night stands are beautiful!!❤

Finally caught up on your video. Love the color what a difference with lighting. I also ordered myself the migraine head wrap. Thank you very much. I suffer for those once a month because of the moon phase I kid you not . Here’s hoping it will help. I could never find one that doesn’t hurt my head or my hair. Love the curtains if I had a window that big I would love to have that. Looking forward to your makeover whoever that person is as always thanks for sharing.😎

I love the green nightstands and the curtains are really the jewel of the room. Looks so warm and lux. My Dad was a house painter and I spent summers helping him prime prime and prime some more so I definitely feel ya on the priming hate😅. My tip when painting something from light to dark is to mix some of the tinted paint into the primer. Helps with coverage and less coats. And always buy the best paint for your job.. you can always color match the magnolia line colors into your favorite brand of paint. I use valspar cabinet paint all the time for furniture but typically tint it to Benjamin Moore or SW colors.

best idea is the curtains! beings you have the peel and stick tape, it those panels don't stay together per side, you can stick them together.( pins or tags work too) If you decide ever to trim your curtains, use the peel and stick...it works fine. # 2 idea the tv frame. Night stands much improved, but I wished they were large size.

I think the shelves are my favorite!!! I’m working on getting mine up and I’m so excited! The green looks fabulous! It was my favorite color of the 2! Can’t wait to see the complete set up! 🤩🤩
