Former flight attendant Kristine Fernandez rates nine flight-attendant scenes in movies and television shows for realism. Fernandez worked as a flight attendant for seven years on a luxury airline and served first class, business class, and economy.
Fernandez discusses the accuracy of flight-attendant scenes in "Bridesmaids" (2011), starring Kristen Wiig; "Crazy Rich Asians" (2018); and "The Flight Attendant" (2020), starring Kaley Cuoco. She comments on the reality of situations with passengers in "Just Married" (2003), "Meet the Parents" (2000), and "Snakes on a Plane" (2006). Fernandez also analyzes the portrayal of the airplane apparatuses in "View from the Top" (2003), "Due Date" (2010), and "The Wedding Singer" (1998).

I was on a flight from Munich to Atlanta one time and a drunk guy managed to take the drink cart and started handing out drinks to everyone. After being asked to sit back down he went into the lav and started smoking a cigarette. When we landed in Atlanta the first thing that happened after pulling up to the gate was five officers coming on board and arresting him. I also had a flight to Seoul where a woman stood up and collapsed. After clearing out a space for her and getting a doctor to check her out they declared that she had passed away and covered her with a sheet. After about an hour the woman sat up and started talking like nothing had happened. I have never heard so much screaming on a flight.

Yeah, I put a hot towel in my mouth on my first international flight. She had a tray of oblong cream filled pastries (or so I thought) and handed them out to folks on the plane, with a tong. I was dealing with my laptop, a beverage and something else and my hands were busy so I just grabbed it and put it in my mouth. My dad sitting right next to me, who had never been abroad, did the same thing. We got a weird smile from the flight attendant….

@Midorima Shintaro No I just whirled round and glared at her ready to defend myself haha.. only to see this tiny woman about half my size dressed in uniform and smiling.. I was confused to say the least! The other memorable thing from that day is how none of the staff waiting on these super rich people knew how to properly pour a bottle of beer. They just tipped it into the glass so there was nearly half foam, half beer, and then they chucked the beer still in the bottle away! Honestly waste like that was completely appalling to me. Really eye opening anyway.

Had a long flight from India to London through the night and there was a period when I couldn't sleep. My seat was near the back of the airline which is also where the cabin crew sat down to chill and chat when everyone was asleep. Unfortunately I am one of those people who cannot sleep on flights and so I went back and asked these two crew members if I could just hang out with them till they had to be doing stuff like giving food out again. Thankfully they were kind enough to let me and I had one of the most memorable conversations I have had ever for about 2 hours.

I once was on a flight and I picked a seat in the front, aisle side. I wanted to get off ASAP. It was a 2-aisle-2 seating arrangement. Next to me was a kid, probably 12 or something, and he showed to have Downs syndrome. No problem. But his mom came by and explained that she couldn't get them both together since the flight was booked, and the gentleman a few rows back wouldn't want to switch with her (he was aisle as well), and she asked me if I would switch with her. A few rows back? Mom and a mentally challenged kid? Sure, why not. A flight attendant listened in and I got treated like I was some kind of airborne God or something. Free drinks and snacks offered to me every time they came by. Loved it. Didn't abuse it. I figured their hardship in life was already rough enough and I could deal with the inconvenience of a window seat + slight delay getting off the plane.

Gulf airlines are scary. Qatar will randomly fire flight attendants then seize any assets they have in Qatar and blacklist them from ever returning. All of them are owned by their governments which means they're all owned by autocratic monarchs who were born to power. Emirates is a little nicer but still, you never want to say anything that might bring them into disrepute, even after you've left.

@@Jibriltz lol I'm a junior CC with qatar and it's not as bad as ppl say it is. They don't seize things that don't belong to them only things that they give you. CC are an asset to a company so they don't just fire CC anytime they like. The only downside is that there are many rules but these rules are basic rules like "can't leave accommodation 12 hrs before a flight " and etc. It's aviation law that we get minimum 10 hrs rest before a flight.

I don't work for any air line companies but I've definitely worked for a major major company who forbids anyone from ever talking negatively about them in public. Can you please explain a bit, how did it happen? Where did you store the instruments? And also... Why? :) was it promotion of sth?
@casualcascade
@casualcascade 2 жыл бұрын
@@puetwa Just to clarify, it's really not common. I've done it like 3 times in my years and years. How it happens: Usually, it happens because an enthusiastic director or member of the group travelling will say "Hey let's sing this song" and we all just go with it. For me it's only happened with large groups, like whole casts of musicals or when I was in school. I've never been the one to ask the flight attendant about it beforehand so idk their reaction. The instruments: Small or delicate instruments are brought on as carry ons, sometimes if it's big enough the instrument is bought it's own seat. Once my friend's cello had the middle seat between us for 12 hours. Sometimes, people just rent the instrument in the city they're going to, if they're not dead set on playing their own. I've never seen anyone actually play anything bigger than an oboe in the air but I would pay money to see a tuba busted out. Why: Usually? Just for fun. Sometimes, for promotion on social media. There are definitely viral clips on the internet you can look up. One that comes to mind is the cast of the Lion King.

Well, as anyone who has flown Emirates first class will tell you, showers are only available on A380 aircraft and the shower itself is strictly limited to five minutes no matter how sparsely occupied the first class cabin may be. I've considered being a flight attendant because I really love traveling and seeing new places, but I just really love my cats and my fishies. I know they can spend a lot of time away from home, so I'd probably have to shell out a good chunk of my income to a pet sitter. Fish in particular can be pretty finnicky if they're fed improperly or the water pH is thrown off for some reason, I don't even know where I'd look to find someone I could trust to handle that.

I was on a flight where the flight attendant announced that this couple on the flight were eloping and the guy in the seat just behind me busted out his saxophone and started playing Hava Nagila. I was mortified that I hadn’t learned the lyrics to Hava Nagila.

The Bridesmaids scene... Rose Byrne's character gave her a pill to alleviate her anxiety. Then a little Scotch saying it'll just give the pill the kick that it needs. The interaction of the two caused Kristen Wiig's character to be out of it and act drunk. Really I don't know what pill she gave her and if the little bit of Scotch had with it would actually do that but it's a comedy so. LOL

sounds like a Benzo derived drug, as when mixed with alcohol it has a synergesic effect on both intoxicants, and would result in a state similar to heavy aclohol intoxication, especially if the person isnt adjusted to benzo type drugs

12:05: 90s, full plane, ... using only half the doors (in case of an engine-fire or something on one side). Note however that the certification-tests for how many people can be onboard a plane aren't done with random people, and the people who are part of them _know_ that they'll be evacuating and how to do so
