Joe runs the KZfaq channel Nekkid Watchmaker, where he restores vintage and antique watches. He shows us how he restores a Cartier Tank watch from the 1980s. He deconstructs the entire watch, fixes the movement, cleans dirt out of it, puts all of the parts into a cleaning solution, polishes the pieces, gold-plates the case, and reassembles it.

Only a gifted, skilled, veteran artisan could perform this marvelous work! Bravo! Skills like watchmaking and restoration seem to be restricted to the older, more mature set of people. Make no mistake, these types of skills require years if not decades to develop. It is sad that most young people today would rather play around with a so-called smartphone than learn from a master like this gentleman.

This is a Must Cartier Tank (more consumer friendly price and materials) which is less valuable then a traditional Cartier Tank by a large margin. This watch can be bought in pretty good condition for a few hundred to a thousand max (overpriced imo) on ebay. Still he did a wonderful job restoring it, but for anyone liking this watch they can own it for a fraction of what this video title says in much better quality.

I’m not quite sure what the point of this video is when you can watch the full, unedited video on Joe’s own page? Do yourself a favour, skip this page and go direct to Joe’s own account.
