But in the end he got over it, came back from death and wrote his pain into a song, that’s when he started playing the piano... What a masterpiece really

Been crying most nights for the last 2months since my partner and I separated and watching this over and over whenever I’m anxious. My ex and I broke up during this pandemic because he was too stressed about finding a job in SF even though he wanted to work in DC. We both graduated college and been together for almost 3 years. He broke up with me yesterday, though, i’ve been anticipating it because he has gotten cold every since the quarantine started. It’s easier during the day because I can distract myself but it’s terribly difficult at night because our memories keep coming back. Know that if you stay up and cry at night and/or during the day, don’t worry you are not alone. It may seem hopeless, but someday we will get though these together.

This is more than just a "losing a lover" kind of song... This coukd also be about losing a family member, a friend, a pet etc. This is really deep and emotional.

This song is perfect, felt it all when I lost someone who felt like my best friend. Ups, downs and inbetweens, everything all gone. I wish it was all back, they mean the world to me, and idk if they know it. We shouldn't have said some stuff, but it was all worth it because it made her happy for our short time. I wish I could go back and I pray to God that one day we'll meet again on better terms to continue our friendship. It was everything to me, the last thing I held onto that meant something to me. The last time someone cared.

OMG i got triggered watching this video.. My girlfriend and I broke up because I found out she was a sociopath and she only manipulated me for the whole relationship. I was destroyed and i got depressed. Then one night, I went on a taxi my 2 of my friends and we got hit by another car who was beating the red light. I almost died that night and my ex's face was the last thing I remembered seeing before I blacked out. Fast forward two years later, I am alive and I am better now thru all those tears I shed for her. It gets better, trust me.

ok, here's a quick and completely subjective interpertation of this music video: we begin watching Paul suffering some sort of cardiac arrest, and when he finally dies there's this kind of limbo where he goes to confront his ultimate emotional distress; that's why there's mannequins on fire portraying the people that's no longer in his life, and we also see very short stills of him with his old long hair and another mannequin on fire standing alone, representing him being dead but more in a 'status-quo being broken' kind of way. This feeling is emphasized when he carries the rose to the grave, he smells its scent one last time before saying goodbye to all the shit that's now behind him and also a figurative adieu to the first LANY lp. Then he's back to life, went through the all that sleepless nights and live to tell, cut to epic shooting of the band playing on the sunset and taxi ride to western malibu or something like that. The End.

*Trigger Warning* This might be the first comment I've left on KZfaq in 5+ years. #LANY...Y'ALL!!...This song came up after a Bazzi binge on Spotify and is in a fav playlist I listen to daily! (Which has, shamelessly lasted several weeks now lol.) But, WOW, it couldn't have come at a better time and it helped me stay strong and look to the future. I've been blasting this song and singing and dancing in my car for months...happy and cheery. Tonight, though, I decided to turn on some music videos while doing work and I was SO excited that there was a video. I love watching live videos of songs I find, but I saw the official vid and wanted to see how the storyline compared to mine. Little did I know that it was going to trigger some deeply buried PTSD (that I've worked very hard to manage) from the day my younger brother passed away...almost 10 years ago. I know we can't put trigger warnings on everything in life, but something in me wishes there was one on this video. There are certain parts of that day that I still seem to protect myself from. Unhealthy? Most definitely YES. But, everyones grieving and coping process is different and when it comes to a trauma, like what my family (and millions of other families) have endured...there was and is no manual for. However, because I know the song inside and out, after the initial shock and tears of what I was seeing and reliving (and ultimately imagining what it was like while my brother was in the ambulance and with the doctors until the told us the new and let us be see him), I started to see the message more clearly. The heavy tears I were crying were transformed to hysterics (and I do NOT cry often so this was a big moment) and then a calming sob as I remembered the powerful lyrics and message. On that note, I am a basket of mixed emotions right now lol, but I have to THANK YOU for putting this song out for the world hear and feel. I am sure it has impacted others similarly. And I hope it hasn't triggered anyone else in the way it did for me. I'm excited to explore the rest of your work!
