For me this song is so accurate about me and my mother. She's a born-again Christian and a die-hard at that. We're not close because we lived apart for 20 years and during those years, we didn't really talk alot. (I'm just in my early 20s). Now, I'm not stopping her from being a Christian, but I don't want to be one. But I can't tell her because I know she won't respect it. Tbh, I feel like she's a stranger rather than being my mother. I don't know anything about her, and she doesn't know anything about me, and even though we wanna talk about it, it's too late. She doesn't respect my preferences, everything should be "in Christian way." Even the songs I like, she doesn't like because "they're Japanese." I "don't understand them anyway" and they're "not Godly." Basically we clash at everything. She insists that only Christians are good, and all other ppl are bad. No exceptions. If there's an a**hole Christian, she will defend her and say, let's give her a chance, because she isn't matured yet, but if there's a super kind non-Christian, she'll say that person is automatically bad. It's ridiculous, I already had an argument with her about it, but I figured I can't do anything about her anymore so I just shut up. So yeah, that's just one of the MANY things she's doing and I hate it, but I can't "unmother" her and I don't wanna be unfilial to her (we're Asians). Anyways, this song perfectly describes my relationship with her. Also, she's a super clean-freak, not because she's "scared" of dirt, but because it's the only thing she knows how to do (she doesn't have any other hobbies or talents so she gets envious when me and my father do our hobbies like painting and etc). So she cleans like 9 hours a day during her day-off and she cleans every time she sees us doing our hobbies to feel "righteous" because while we are "relaxing, she is cleaning instead. When in fact, it's just because she doesn't have any talent like us. I could tolerate it if she's a real clean freak, but no, she does it for self-righteousness, and it's too much. She doesn't want even a drop of oil in the stove when you're frying???? LOL ?? Where can u find something like that? Like. You're frying, with oil, and u don't want even just a drop of oil on the stove top??? If she sees it, she'll clean for 2 hourse using various chemicals like how Koreans do their skin care. It's ridiculous. You might think this is nothing, but the things I've just mentioned are only the tip of the iceberg. Anyways, "stop all this sin, be born again" *this line describes her as she pushes her beliefs on me and labeling non-Christian things as "sin"* "Our home's a wreck. Look at this mess. She blames all the bad things that are happening to us on our" disobedience" to the Lord.* Why am I even writing this here? Nothing really, I just couldn't take it anymore, that's why.
