Great commentary. My experience over the past few years: I have used them from the small plastic Harbor Freight ones, about $65.00, very successfully to the ones up to the 30 liter one you have. The size suits me best, as a hobbyist, cleaning carbs and other engine stuff, is the 6 to 7 liter size. It makes a difference what cleaner you use. Purple Power, SuperClean, and Simple Green work well diluted. Be careful trying to clean carbs with that stuff, it turns them dark gray to black, and leaves an oily film on the surfaces. A dremel with a wire brush cleans all that off them though and polishes them up. I have learned to fill mine up with just water, and put parts in smaller sealed containers with cleaning solution, or acetone, or lacquer thinner, or gasoline, and that works great and doesn't dirty up the main water. Happy 4th Chad!!

Gasoline supposedly won't turn them gray. They fill the tank with water and put the carbs in a plastic bag or glass or plastic containers.

There’s a transducer under the bottom of the tank that creates the ultrasonic waves through the solution. Though the manufacturer gives you a basket that rests on the bottom of the machine, it inhibits the transducer’s ability to create sonic activity. You could bend those basket handles to 90 degrees and hang the basket from the side of the tank so that it’s not resting on the bottoms of the tank and the machine will work better. Also, let the solution heat to max temp before you start the clean cycle timer. On the solutions, don’t use soapy solutions because thicker soapy liquids will inhibit sonic action. 50/50 pine sol and water will work better. To clean small parts get one of those permanent coffee filters with the wire mesh and that will work great. Good luck. Love the channel!

Been fixing clocks for a living last 50+ years and using ultrasonic cleaner the whole time . Have used it on carbs as well and anything mechanical that I've been messing with. It's great. Watch out for some metals that may discolor everything in there. Mostly ones with zinc I believe. Experiment with different solutions. Actual ultrasonic fluid or Gunk. Lots of options

Hey Chad!I have a Vevor cleaner too. It’s smaller than the one you have and doesn’t have the drain. Perfect for lawnmower stuff etc. The heater needs some time to warm up. These are awesome units, just wish the temps were in Fahrenheit. Awesome videos bud!

We use Gunk Parts Cleaner in our ultrasonic parts cleaner. It seems to do a pretty good job. We use heat and sound. Also turn it on about an hour or so ahead of time to preheat the fluid. You will get it down pretty fast! Once you figure it out you will love it for cleaning carburetor’s and other things with small parts.

I bought one much smaller than yours when I had to DIY injection pump rebuild. Made a big difference to trying to clean things with out scratching up machined surfaces! Also stripped down diesel injectors, and it cleaned the nozzles up pretty decent. All I used was water and Virosol. Done a couple pumps now and quite a few injectors. A Good tip is not to put too much in at one time, especially if its heavy. I've had Good results cleaning pistons too by suspending them in the tank from above.

Pretty nice to see you taking the time to review that cleaner. Chad I think there's a little getting to know it kind of stuff going on here. I have seen people use different solutions in them, and if you set that heater up before you start it SHOULD heat that tank up. I'm pretty sure around 50c you'll get better work out of it, and I know people use the carb cleaner from the gallon can by Gunk, that works really well in there (the smaller ones at least) and also yeah if you give it a little scrub afterwards I've seen it really really loosens all the nasty off. It is the kind of thing you put stuff into when you're doing other work, come back when it beeps and it's much cleaner than when you put it in.. I think you'll come to like it once you find the right cleaning solution for the application you're using it for. Thanks for taking the time to review it, if you check out Lift-Arc studios on KZfaq Vevor sent him a couple 'welders' hehe and he reviewed them!! Awesome!

Definitely need to use 100% pine sol. Also, don’t fill it up so full, I usually only fill it full enough to cover what I want cleaned. Heat is the trick, get it up to temp before putting stuff in, or just let it clean longer so the temp get up to hot. I’ve cleaned some pretty dirty parts with my smaller version, which obviously doesn’t take as long to heat up, hence the reason for not filling up the tank to the top. Love the channel Chad, have a great day and happy 4th of July!

I use water, Simple Green, and Dawn dishwashing soap in my ultrasonic cleaner, it seems to work pretty good on carburetors. I fill up with water first, then add a 1\4 cup of Simple Green, and a couple good squirts of Dawn dishwashing liquid soap, run with heat on for about 20 minutes. Does a decent job cleaning them up, most of the gunk on inside fuel bowl is usually gone.

I build engines professionally and ultrasonic are probably one of the best inventions for cleaning anything. Depending on the solvent it's safe for any material. Only thing doesn't matter what solvent you're using, humans breath air. If you're gonna inspect it turn it off before putting your head and eyes over the solution. Especially when it's hot it can be evaporating and you'll be breathing it in getting into your eyes. For cleaning carbs the "ideal" way is to use different cleaners and I'm sure there's a million opinions in little plastic containers and water. Also keeps the float under water. Be sure to change your cleaning solution as you use it because the dirtier it gets not only does it no longer clean it can leave residue on your stuff.

I used an ultrasonic cleaner when I worked in the aviation industry to clean the grease out of wheel bearings. The Company I worked for used a chemical de-greaser. It would clean the bearing grease out in 5 minutes then I'd blow the degreaser off with compressed air. I have an ultrasonic cleaner at home and have used Gunk degreaser at home but it smells awful. I get Harbor Freight's degreaser that you dilute with water and it does quite well.

@DanDan-yy8sf
@DanDan-yy8sf Жыл бұрын
@@MrAmf4me It will most certainly will dissolve. Glass and sand and other media are chosen for the required job, in the case of a rather delicate carburetor a much less abrasive media such as baking powder is the answer. I would make sure your air compressor has a water / moisture filter to keep your air dry, for obvious reasons. Cheers 👍

Chad-hope all is well. Enjoy your videos. Straight pine sol without diluting a must. Also need to get her as hot as possible before using with the ultrasonic blast. You will see much better results next time if you do those couple of things. Obviously several different degreasers out there to try. Pine sol I think is the cheapest and dollar stores sell it plus it’s friendlier to smell. Stay humble my friend.
