You kids are posting for us people that appreciate what your doing. Ignore the complainers, they are the ones that complain about everything. They buy stuff only to return, they eat out and complain about the food, their life is miserable because they see nothing good in stuff or people. I love watching you every week

Too much "junk: laying around??? NO, it's BUILDING MATERIALS and such that you will continue to use as you build and develop your place. You don't live in suburbia where you have to "keep up with the Jones". You are on a homestead where you are continually doing one project after the other and look at all that "junk" on the barn and how great it turned out!!! And you repurposed (recycled) some items and created patterns and design out of leftovers for a unique building that will serve it's purpose for you and the goats. You have been very creative and saved money using what you have. Great job!

What junk? I only see potential material for future projects! Look at what you've built (and continue to build) with what some may call junk! You've burned the crappy wood and done loads to the dump. What more do ppl want?

This is a really good "Off Grid Living"channel without a doubt. It is honest, factual, shows the issues, concerns and battles necessary to live the life. There is however a rather special message in this channel and that is the fact that Greg allows Katy to fully engage and partake in all aspects of the builds/development of the homestead. Before everyone shoots me down for sexism I also want to say how Katy pushes her abilities and skills into the mix. As a couple they feed each others independence and development. An incredible couple who grow off each other and work in unison to achieve the objective. Love these guys.

Was thinking the same thing how Greg allows Katy to learn new skills. I got to work with my brother on remodeling house and on my own house remodeling. I'm 79 now so thankful for all he taught me, being widowed at an early age the skills came in very handy, was able to teach my sons when they got older some the thing I learned. Great couple like watching the videos. Great word andrewmaiden !

That's a great looking barn - well done on the design and execution. So appreciate how much you recycle, re-use and re-purpose. And I am so glad you'll have a workshop to store and use permanently all the various tools and table-top machines. I'm sure you're looking forward to it too. As one of the contributors who commented on the stuff lying around, I live in the country and know the temptation to have various discard and re-use piles but your attempts to minimise these is really helpful for you. It's more about an approach to work than anything else. I guess I'm just old-school and never think a project is completed (even for the day) unless I put away everything and pick up the off-cuts, debris and wrapping. Anyway, I really appreciate the work you do and the ingenuity and the resilience. Keep going and ... keep it tidy ;)

Greg, Katie, I have been in construction for over 50 years, I have found if your going to make a omelette you have to break a few eggs, building is inherently messy, those that know, know. Those that have nothing better to do than criticize, more than likely they sadly have very little substance to their lives, I have watched you two over the years build a beautiful piece of paradise in the Canadian Mountains, don’t pay any attention to the noise, as there is always some talking head who has a all knowing opinion and nothing constructive to say. You guys do you. In my humble opinion you are doing a awesome job, I only wish I was younger and still had the energy to do it again. You guys rock! I will watch from afar when you guys share. Greg and Katie. Perhaps, rather than 'Rustic', just maybe 'Heritage' best suits the expression you are seeking to achieve. By the way, I'm sure there must be thousands of farms, who would give their right arms for such an inspired barn. Locally sourced and milled timber, minimal outlay on treated timber, cost effective and practical as the day is long. Absolutely brilliant watching you two working as a well oiled team. More power to your elbows. What a great video series. Well done, Regards Robin.

On an off grid homestead....junk IS treasure. Metal scrap pile is a source of material fro random projects, That pile of random bricks, may just turn into a wood fired oven.....or perhaps a structure is a creek bed for a semi clean water source.
