The Interview of the Vampire series is amazing. I read the book in the 90s. If you haven't seen the film it's really accurate to the book. Minus a few minor things here or there. Literally the first opening lines mirror the movie perfectly. I read it many times. And went on to read other Anne Rice books. It's 100% true vampires. At the time I had no idea it was written in the 70s. It held up well in the 90s. As a bookworm I feel like you would be really comforted by the Danish lifestyle called Hygge. There's books out there that explain. But cozy up your home with all the comfort items, knit blankets, reading nooks, candles... and so on. It especially helps in the gloomy wintery time of year. A warm cup of tea/coffee/hot cocoa, a candle, blanket, pillows and good book. A bit of self care never hurts this time of year. ❤

Interview with the Vampire is less creepy and more existential. The main character spends a lot of time questioning his existence and seeking out the answers, so I would pick it up when you're in the mood for that kind of book! :)

GIRL I just finished Bloodmarked and holy fuck, I lost my mind. A phenomenal sequel to Legendborn, one of the best book sequels I’ve ever read period. Everything you love about the first book is five times better in this one. The only negative thing I can say is that I have to wait for the next one 😩. But I cannot wait to see your review of it once you do read it, Tracy but her whole Deonnussy into this sequel. I am obsessed and still haven’t recovered…

For my high school English class, the teachers did not organise things every well and I ended up having to study Macbeth for 3 years in a row - which naturally means that I now absolutely DETEST Macbeth. I do like Romeo and Juliet!!

I am also not enjoying this time of year. I just moved to northern Scotland and uh.. the sun is gone. I've literally gone a whole week without seeing any sunshine. There are about 7 hours of "daylight" a day but it's been so cloudy that we don't get any actual sunlight. I will be burying myself in a pile of books until the sun comes out, thank you. I'm Glad My Mom Died was so, so good. Best celebrity memoir I've ever read, maybe best memoir. The success this book has had is so well deserved.

I felt, the hermit vibes this time of year. I'm getting back into reading more often and picked up a boat load of books too. Currently reading and zooming through "With the Fire On High". Such a great book and the story is really compelling. Also picked up, Legendborn, can't wait to read it so I can read the sequel, "The Wicked King' (i know I'm really late to that one), "The Atlas Six' , 'Ace of Spades' , and 'Babel' (saw this one on your ranking video, so had to check it out. So I got a lot ahead of me.

I love MacBeth but honesty I think Romeo and Juliet truly takes the cake for me and it’s just because of Mercutio’s monologue about his dream! I’ll never get over it. I just finished reading MacBeth for the second time in my college class as well, finishing the class by watching a few movie adaptations.

Loved the Ponniyin Selvan film, but the books offer so much more depth and characterization. I started reading an English translation after watching the movie, too, and would definitely recommend it! If reading the Tamil is difficult, there are also a lot of audiobooks available on KZfaq, Spotify, etc. Happy reading ☺️

Hi Janani, I am Indian. I absolutely loved Ponniyin Selvan. I immediately picked up the English translation and devoured the first book. (It took a bit of effort to get through the first 10-12 chapters, sooo much history and I wasn't able to understand the names) I think the story of all the 5books will be split into 2 movies. 1st movie primarily focuses on book 1&2. I definitely aim to finish the remaining books before the 2nd movie. I am sure you will enjoy the story a lot. Happy Reading ❤️ Love your videos 🤗

Ah, nothing like a book haul to help with seasonal depression (I truly feel this) Looks like a great haul. I have not read any of those books, but I did pre-order Heart of the Sun Warrior (haven't read Daughter of the Moon Goddess yet...I know 😅). I too am on a horror kick as well. I bought the first 3 books in the Vampire Chronicles (Interview with the Vampire, The Prince Lestat, and The Queen of the Damned) and A Dowry of Blood. For some reason, I am interested in reading horror and vampire books. I have been slowly getting into classics, but I kinda wanna re-read Hamlet and Macbeth since those were my favorite Shakespeare plays in high school.

Between me working thru my reread of the riordanverse (2/3 of MCGA and ToA left) and 27 books in my physical tbr (some of which are part of a duology/trilogy/series) it hurts to say but I won’t ask family friends for a single book for Christmas. Actually ONLY one book for secret Santa when I do that with the kids my age. I’m so excited for Black Friday this year cause I plan on buying some single eyeshadows from an indie brand, Sydney Grace😁it’s been 4 years since I’ve bought eyeshadows

I'm Indian and I watched Ponniyin Selvan in its Hindi dub and loved it. Aishwarya Rai could ask for my life and I'd gladly give it, that woman is otherworldly!!! But I knew of the book before even watching the movie and I'm also trying to get through all 5 before the next movie comes out. Also fyi- the 1st movie covers the 1st 3 books of the English translation. The 5th one is a 1000 pages so they're almost midway in the story so needless to say they've skipped out on quite a bit of the story that I'm excited to explore in the books.

Having now read both Scythe and An Ember in the Ashes (after going in with quite high expectations) I'm surprised at how different our tastes seem to be. I bet these books would have left a lasting impression on me had I read them at 14 but they don't hold up in my opinion. So now I'm curious to read adult fiction that you recommend and see if our tastes differ there too. Because hearing how you talk about books, I completely expected our tastes to match.

Hamlet is my favorite of Shakespeare's plays. It was the first one I ever read and saw performed. It's just such a rich play with many ways to interpret it. I read and loved Interview With a Vampire many years ago. I agree with Rachel O's comment about it. You could say that Anne Rice is directly responsible for the trope of vampire with a conscience--Angel from Buffy the Vampire Slayer and the Twilight vampires probably wouldn't exist without Louis (the main character is IWAV). I did not like the movie, however. : )
