This is an episode i never thought i would see. I use to live on Guam for almost 3 years when i was stationed there in the US Navy way back in the early and mid 90's. That is one place i miss 2nd most in my travels next to Japan. when you started the video and i saw the box and saw Navy biscuits, i knew this was going to be a good one. There is sooo much on that tiny island that i love and miss,,, especially the food. just so you know just how tiny that place is,,,the whole island is only 32 miles long and 12 miles wide. but yet there is sooo much there. i want to go back there one day. and if i could afford to live there,,,, I would. it is a paradise. Hope you enjoyed everything.

Hi Kids, My father fought in the liberation of Guam in WWII. Fifty years later they had a celebration for the US Military that aided in their liberation. My Marine father was able to attend and said they all were treated like royalty. The children showered them with hand made gifts and swept the ground before they walked on it. Amazing how grateful they were! I still have my Guam trinket and hold it very dear.

Those Navy and “crab” Biscuits are meant to be that thick to support heavy spreads and meats without breaking. Personally, I love loading them with tons of butter and jelly! This was a “wartime” staple... but still popular enough to continue production in modern times. My favorite snack is the “asparagus” sticks. Lol

It was funny hearing you try to say these Chamorro words. Or try not to offend anyone by showing you didn’t like some snacks. And yes, Tourism is heavily depended on for jobs on Guam. It is a beautiful tropical island. Which has been impacted because of COVID. Which I don’t like to think to much about. So thanks for bringing a smile to my face today. So nice to see Guam represented. I spend 4 years on Guam so these are good reminders. US Navy and Air Force are a big part of the economy. Anderson AFB was the base for B-52's that were used for bombing of Vietnam.

Many things in this video are not made on Guam. they come from a variety of countries in the region. We have a governor, legislatures. We are made up of villages and mayors for each one. With COVID, we have lost all of our tourist. But it has been fun to watch you discover what many of us take for granted....

Hi Kate & Alex! As a local born and raised on Guam, I’m so glad someone sent you a box of our goodies. I was thinking about doing it myself. Those chocolates aren’t really a local fave since we also get American candies & chocolate...so I agree the cookies and guguria (actually called guyuria in our local language, pronounced goo-zoo-ree-uh) are delicious. What you’re really missing out on are our freshly made snacks/desserts, those impossible to mail for you to try. Oh and the BBQ 🤤 Well, you’ll just have to visit one day..once COVID is eradicated, of course. I’d love to show you around if you do! PS. When you finished with the Japanese snacks, I was like “where’s the Hello Panda”? 😅 A childhood snack I still enjoy and eat with my kids to this day. But it was definitely an awesome box! Just subscribed. I'm from Guam but love the Brits. Asparagus sticks are my favorite too. The Crab and Navy biscuits are a carry over from WWII. My parents and grandparents aged 80ish to 100 ate them too. I can only eat them with thick sweetened condensed milk on top. One day when traveling is okay, I really want to try fish and chips in London. Thanks for lifting the Covid blues. 🙂

WOW! What a great box! I have never seen or heard of any of those ones that said they are made in The USA? Kate when i get the hick ups I take a spoonful of sugar and place it on my tongue and let it melt then swallow it,the sugar is supposed to calm the never that makes you hick up.
