Honestly mate. It's a joke football these days. My grandad who had a Sunderland season ticket for almost 40 years. He unfortunately can't make the games these days but he wanted to go to this one. He couldn't get a ticket, but you see these tourists/vloggers getting tickets. It's sickening. Unfortunately for you Newcastle fans it's going to get a lot worse. The more you win and the bigger you get.

You need to see it in another way. I'm from Germany, passionated Dortmund fan, but also a Sunderland supporter. I can't go to a game, so I'm happy about every single video, from thogden or somebody else, when they go to a Sunderland game. That's probably the only way, that I can watch the atmosphere at the stadium of light.

Gateshead is on the other side of the river Tyne, and most people from there also support Newcastle… Sunderland is about 15 miles away from Newcastle, no-where near the Tyne.

Due to the fear of violence, etc the Police insisted on high security. The away tickets were only given to the lucky 6000 *whilst travelling on the specially provided buses* to SOL. Thogden couldn’t get a ticket in those circumstances.

Spot on. I was in the upper tier in the Newcastle end and we completely outsung them. You could hear a little bit at times from their South Stand although for a derby they were poor.

The rivalry is between cities not just football so the passion and hatred runs so deep. This goes back as far as the English civil war where Newcastle sided with the royalists and Sunderland with the parliamentarians and they butchered each other and when that war ended the rivalry continued through the rise of industry and ship building the economic and cultral rivalry continued through until sport came into existence and football has become an outlet for the passion. Is there a local rivalry more bitter between 2 cities, if there is I'd like to know about it.
